Brett Favre thinks Colin Kaepernick will be stamped with "hero status," and believes the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback should get another chance to play in the NFL.The Packers legend made the comments in an interview with TMZ Sports on Sunday.Favre also compared Kaepernick to Pat Tillman, the former Arizona Cardinals safety who left his football career to serve in the United States Army and was killed in Afghanistan in 2004 as a result of friendly fire."It's not easy for a guy his age - Black, white, Hispanic, whatever - to stop something that you've always dreamed of doing and put it on hold maybe forever for something that you believe in," Favre said in the interview."I can only think of, off the top of my head, Pat Tillman's the only other guy that did something similar," Favre said. "And we regard him as a hero. I assume that hero status will be stamped with Kaepernick as well."Favre also said he believes Kaepernick could still play in the NFL."I think from a football sense, I can't imagine him being that far out of shape or that far out of touch with football that he doesn't deserve a shot," Favre said."I thought he was a dynamic player," he continued. "And he's still young and hasn't been hit in several years so there's no reason to think that he's lost that much of a step."Kaepernick has not played since the 2016 season when he began kneeling during the pregame national anthem as a way to protest police brutality and racial injustice. He opted out of his contract in March of 2017 and has not received much interest from NFL teams. The 32-year-old Wisconsin native has been in the news again lately after recent protests have brought further awareness to the issues he was protesting. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said earlier this month he would encourage an NFL team to sign Kaepernick.WGBA's Brandon Kinnard first reported this story. 1886

BOZEMAN, MT — If you know Montana, you likely know it's beauty. From the snow in the mountains in winter to the foliage in autumn. But you probably don't think of it as an important political state. This year, however, you would be mistaken. WHY MONTANA MATTERSWhile President Donald Trump will likely easily win Montana in the presidential race, when it comes to the Senate race, things are far from certain. That's because incumbent Republican Senator Steve Daines is battling incumbent Democratic Governor Steve Bullock. The winner will represent Montana for the next six years. The race is considered by most, including the Cook Political Report, a toss-up. During a recent interview, Daines explained how this race is a toss-up. "I'm running against an incumbent Governor," Daines said near his home in Belgrade, Montana. While Daines admitted Montanans have an independent streak, he believes ultimately supporters of Trump will support his campaign. "If you sum up what I stand for it's more high paying jobs and less government," Daines said. Meanwhile, Bullock says voters may be backing Trump in Montana but they are aren't afraid to back a Democrat for Senate. "A quarter of my voters voted for Donald Trump," Bullock told Scripps' National Political Editor Joe St. George. "It's about whether somebody is going to fight for you along the way," Bullock added. WHAT'S AT STAKE FOR THE SENATECurrently, Republicans have a 53-47 majority in the United States Senate. While Republicans are expected to pick up Alabama this election, Democrats believe they are in position to take back 4 states at least. If, for instance, Democrats win Arizona, Colorado, Maine and North Carolina, depending on who is in the White House, control of the entire United States Senate will come down to Montana. Whoever controls the Senate is very important for whoever wins the White House. If one party controls both the Senate and White House, justices to the United States Supreme Court could easily be appointed. If one party controls the House, Senate and White House, far more ambitious legislation can be passed by elected officials. FUNDRAISING RECORDSThe importance of the U.S. Senate is highlighted in the record-breaking fundraising across the country. Nationwide, billions will be spent on 35 senate races this year. In South Carolina, Democrat Jamie Harrison raised a record million in just one quarter in his election against Republican Senator Lindsay Graham. Back in Montana, records are also being set. "This will be the most expensive election in Montana history," Mike Dennison, a longtime political reporter in the state, said. Dennison, who works for Scripps' Montana News Network, estimates over million will be spent on this race and on relatively few undecided voters. "All the money is fighting over about 10 percent of those voters so maybe 60,000 to 70,000 people," Dennison said. 2912

Black Friday shoppers should beware this year that as the pandemic drives more people online, it also provides more opportunities for hackers digging for information they can steal. As more people work from home, they're using gadgets and electronics for both work and play, often using the same passwords. This might leave those looking to do online shopping for the holidays vulnerable to hackers."We've seen a major surge in the deployment of malware, bad code that can intercept your online shopping," said Dr. Richard Harknett, co-director of the Ohio Cyber Range Institute.Shoppers should be aware of the hallmarks of a secure site: a locked padlock icon near the URL in the browser, or "https" in the web address box, instead of "http.""I know that sounds a little technical, but this is the first thing you need to know if the place that you're going to give your money to in the form of a credit card is safe," said Harknett.Experts also suggest using credit cards to make purchases, instead of debit cards so shoppers' entire bank account isn't exposed to fraud if something goes wrong. Anyone looking to spend often on mobile devices like their cell phones should consider investing in virus protection software."Over the last two years, the percentage of malware directed at operating systems on our smartphones has risen exponentially," said Harknett.Public Wi-Fi is also an enemy to watch out for because public systems are often less secure.Harknett said there are simply more "sharks" in the water today than ever before, and, as more people continue to rely on online shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic, that isn't expected to change. This story was originally published by Larry Seward at WCPO. 1721

BISMARCK, N.D. — A North Dakota state legislative candidate who died from COVID-19 in October was elected Tuesday night. David Andahl died on October 5 after he contracted the coronavirus and had been sick for several days. Andahl had beaten the longtime incumbent during the June Republican primary.Shortly after his death, Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem said Andahl's name would remain on the ballot, and if he won, the office would be considered vacant. Under state law, a committee representing the party of the previous office-holder would fill the opening by appointment. However, voters have the option to petition for a special election following the legislative session if they are not happy with who is appointed. 733
