Read the letter from now-suspended Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman apologizing for using a homophobic slur on-air Wednesday evening.As many of you know, I said something hateful on the air Wednesday night, something no one should ever say. Something that someone should ever think.Something that no one should ever feel.Something no one should ever hear.I could try to explain it or tell you about who I am and what I believe, but those things would all be excuses. The simple fact is, what I said was wrong.I used a word that is both offensive and insulting. In the last 24 hours, I have read about its history; I had no idea it was so rooted in hate and violence and am particularly ashamed that I, someone who makes his living by the use of words, could be so careless and insensitive. It’s a word that should have no place in my vocabulary and I will certainly never utter it again.I cannot erase what I have done. The only thing I can do is humbly apologize, accept the consequences of my actions, and resolve to be better and behave differently from now on.To the LGBTQ+ community – I am truly and deeply sorry. You should never be denigrated with crude and hateful language. I failed you and I cannot say enough how sorry I am.To the Cincinnati Reds and all Reds fans – You deserve better from me. (KGTV) - Over the past week, two different red flag warnings have plagued San Diego's East County communities. The Cornerstone Therapeutic Riding Center in Ramona was suffered damage from a wind storm Tuesday night. President Donald Trump was asked on Wednesday if he would commit to leaving office peacefully in January if he loses to Joe Biden in November.Trump’s response:“We're going to have to see what happens, you know I have been complaining very strongly about the ballots. And the ballots are a disaster,” Trump said.When pressed to elaborate, Trump added, "We want to get rid of the ballots, we'll have a very peaceful -- there won't be a transfer, frankly, there will be a continuation."Last week, Joe Biden said during a CNN town hall that he would accept the outcome once the full results are counted.“I mean, he never think -- can anybody any of you or history majors out there think of any president who said early on, ‘I'm not sure I'm going to accept the results of the election. It depends,’” Biden said. “I mean what's happened to us in this case, it's not who we are. This is not what America is. There were 1,281 ballots postmarked the day before Election Day, but election officials received them too late to be counted.Yesterday, the FBI issued a warning that cybercriminals and foreign governments were working to sow distrust in the upcoming election process.According to the FBI, “Foreign actors and cybercriminals could create new websites, change existing websites, and create or share corresponding social media content to spread false information in an attempt to discredit the electoral process and undermine confidence in U.S. democratic institutions.”Beyond attempts to influence the vote, the FBI says these actors are attempting to sow distrust in the electoral system. The FBI in particular warns that cybercriminals could take advantage of the likelihood several states will need additional time to count ballots due to increased mail-in voting and social distancing protocols. While a delay in results does not indicate any wrongdoing, the FBI warns that foreign actors could attempt to spread misinformation to cause distrust in the system while votes are being tallied. 3187

President-elect Joe Biden had a stark warning if there is not collaboration on national efforts to combat the coronavirus."More people may die if we don’t coordinate," President-elect Biden said Monday during remarks from Wilmington, Delaware. He urged a coordination effort not only between administrations, but also with Congress, business owners, educators, and governors. "We are at war with the coronavirus," Biden said. President Donald Trump has not conceded the presidential election, and his administration has not formally signed an ascertainment that would allow the incoming Biden administration access to intelligence briefings and department leaders, including the coronavirus team, and funding for transition efforts. Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris spoke about the economy, and their strategy to "hit the ground running" in January when they are sworn in. Biden shared his frustration that President Trump and Congress has not passed more relief as Americans struggle, referencing long-term unemployment numbers and rising evictions. Harris said they had spent Monday talking to business owners representing leaders from corporations, small businesses, and those in between."The road ahead, it will not be easy. But the president elect and I are hitting the ground running," Harris said.She also addressed the disparities in how the coronavirus pandemic is effecting communities of color."Last month, the unemployment rate of Black Americans was almost twice those of others," Harris said, adding that Native Americans were four times more likely to be hospitalized with the coronavirus.Biden repeated proposed policies that would increase the corporate tax and increase taxes for the wealthiest Americans while keeping the tax rate for the middle-class consistent. He's also called for more COVID-19 stimulus and more widespread use of the Defense Production Act in order to create jobs while producing more personal protective equipment."There’s so much we can do, and we can’t do any of this without working together," Biden said. He also urged Congress to pass coronavirus relief funds. Biden's address comes as millions of Americans remained unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this month, the Labor Department reported better than expected unemployment numbers from October through the unemployment rate remains at just under 7%.Prior to the pandemic, the last time unemployment was as high as 7% was about six years ago, as the country continued to recover from the Great Recession.Biden's comments also come as the stock market has jumped on encouraging news of a potential COVID-19 vaccine. Following Moderna's Monday announcement that its vaccine candidate has been 95% effective in Phase 3 trials, the Dow jumped more than 400 points for an increase of about 1.5%.Despite historic losses in February and March, the Dow remains in the black from the beginning of 2020.Biden also shared that he and his wife Dr. Jill Biden spent the morning deciding who they would spend Thanksgiving with. Residents along the coast of New Jersey, New York and parts of New England were placed under a tropical storm watch Sunday as Hurricane Jose inches it way closer to the United States mainland. Meanwhile, a hurricane watch was issued for the US Virgin Islands as Maria became a hurricane Sunday evening. Hurricane Jose packed top sustained winds of 90 MPH as of early Sunday evening. The center of the storm is expected to stay over the Atlantic Ocean, but the storm's backside could scrape parts of the Northeast. The threat of wind, rain and deadly rip currents prompted the National Hurricane Center to place parts of the Northeast under a tropical storm watch. The potential for danger is even greater in the Caribbean. The US Virgin Islands, which took a devastating hit from Hurricane Irma, is under a hurricane watch ahead of Hurricane Maria. Maria packed top winds of 75 MPH as of early Sunday evening. The hurricane is expected to strengthen into a Category 3 storm by Tuesday. After passing near the Virgin Islands, Irma could make a direct impact on Puerto Rico.  1111
