SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- More than 20 people were arrested in San Diego as part of a statewide sanctuary enforcement operation carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.ICE officials said the arrests were made between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2, with the focus on “criminal aliens and individuals who have violated U.S. immigration laws.”According to officials, arrests were made in San Diego, Encinitas, Vista, Lakeside, National City, Poway, Fallbrook, Spring Valley, Escondido, Oceanside, and San Marcos.In a news release, ICE officials said:“Of those arrested, 10 were the direct result of sanctuary state laws that force local law enforcement not to honored a lawfully issued immigration detainer. Two arrests were the direct result of the law enforcement agency releasing the individuals prior to ICE being able to place an immigration detainer on their case.Of those arrested, over 80 percent had prior criminal convictions and/or pending criminal charges. Of those, the criminal offenses included Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a minor under 14 with Force, Domestic Violence, Assault, Possession of Control Substance for Sale, Possession of Control Substance, Vehicle Theft, Burglary, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.One individual who was arrested during the operation will face federal criminal prosecution for having illegally re-entered the U.S. after their removal. Those who were primary targets of this operation have final orders of removal issued by a federal immigration judge. Their due process was completed, and they will be removed from the United States. The individuals who were arrested and require adjudication from an immigration judge will be placed in detention pending the outcome of their removal proceedings.”Gregory Archambeault, Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in San Diego, said, “The State of California has chosen to prohibit local law enforcement agencies from cooperating with ICE to protect public safety. These local agencies are forced to release criminal aliens to the street, abandoning the victims of crimes and the innocent members of their communities. ICE is committed to upholding public safety, and the rule of law, by continuing to target, arrest and seek the removal of criminal aliens released from the custody of local law enforcement.” 2345

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Neighbors in Ocean Beach are coming together to help raise money for the owner of ACE surfboards whose workshop went up in flames Tuesday afternoon. Albert Elliott's hand-shaped creations were well known in the San Diego area and news of the fire spread quickly. He believes the fire started after the battery on his electric bike ignited. Elliott says much of what was inside was one of a kind and irreplaceable. Although he did have insurance, he isn't sure what it will cover. A Gofundme account has been started to help Elliott and his wife try to rebuild. There is also a clean up at the Elliott's home set for Saturday August 10 at 11 a.m. 674

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - People who live near Mini Square Park in City Heights are fed up with what they say is a rise in crime and noise. They're calling for a curfew to be imposed at the park from 9 pm - 5 am."Every rule that's posted here is broken all day long and mostly all night long," says one woman who asked 10News not to identify her because she feels unsafe in her home next to the park. "I can get practically high from the marijuana that comes into my window cause it overlooks the park. The noise becomes just unbearable at times."The park opened in 2014, on 43rd Street in between Polk and University Avenue. Sitting between a senior center, an apartment complex and a health clinic, It was designed as a way to give adults in the community a gathering place.Instead, neighbors say it's been overrun with crime and drugs.A search of the website crimemapping.com shows 148 crimes reported within 1000 feet of the park over the last six months. That includes 21 stolen cars, 19 assaults and 16 robberies.It's gotten to the point where some people say they're afraid to walk by it, especially at night."Of course I would like to be in this park, to spend my free time there," says Isaac Musaazi, who lives in the apartment complex next door. "But I can't because of the people who are there."A community meeting to discuss a curfew and how to enforce it is scheduled for Thursday with the Community Parks Committee. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police confirmed one person was shot in the ankle in a drive-by shooting at 8:37 p.m. Saturday evening.This happened near Stork St. and Akins Ave. in Encanto.Officers are currently looking for a white BMW that has tinted windows. It was last seen driving north on Stork St. 305

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police agencies throughout San Diego County are investigating multiple brewery break-ins, all within the last week. Employees at Serpentine Cider say they were hit last Friday morning. Their surveillance cameras captured a man walking up to their business, moving a planter and then smashing a window to get inside. The person got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Just two miles away, Longship Brewery says they were hit that very same morning. The suspect, also broke a window and crawled inside, getting away with an empty cash drawer. In Vista, Barrel Harbor Brewing confirms with 10News someone also broke into their place the same exact way. They reported the crime to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. On social media, a fourth brewery, Black Plague, posted pictures of a break-in at their business on Instagram. Oceanside Police is investigating that incident. So far, police haven't confirmed if the incidents are related or released a description of who they're looking for. 1029
