SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A truck crashed into a Spring Valley home and caught fire Friday. Sky10 was above the scene in the 9700 block of Huron St. off Jamacha Blvd. about 5:15 p.m. San Miguel Firefighters responded to the home to knock down the flames. Since the controversy surrounding "Baby, It's Cold Outside,” sales of the iconic Christmas song have been soaring.Billboard reports three different versions of the song from different performers have seen a bump and streaming for the song is up 54 percent for at least versions of the song.The song—written in 1944 by Frank Loesser—was criticized this year for its lyrics.Loesser’s daughter, Susan, is also defending the song, saying listeners need to examine the context.“It’s this flirty, funny, charming song,” Susan says. “I’ve always loved it.”Susan Loesser says she can’t help but smile every time she hears it."My mother considered it their song,” Susan recalls. “That's why she was crushed when he sold it to MGM for ‘Neptune's Daughter.’"The movie is a romantic comedy from 1949."But it won the Academy Award and she got over it,” Susan says.Now, fast forward 70 years, the song is getting attention for a very different reason.Radio stations began pulling the song, as critics argued the lyrics promotes rape culture.The uproar centers on the particular lyric, “Say, what’s in this drink?”It's a line that stands out, especially in the context of the #MeToo movement.But Susan says the movement, "doesn't get it.""I just think it's a mistake to attack this particular song,” she says. “It's not a date rape song. Tammy Duckworth, who just gave birth to her second child, is attempting the rare move of changing longstanding Senate rules in order to accommodate senators with newborns.The Illinois Democrat has submitted a resolution this week that would allow senators to bring a child under one year old to the Senate floor during votes, which they currently cannot do."After many positive, constructive conversations with her colleagues on both sides of the aisle, Sen. Duckworth is glad to be able to offer this legislation to ensure no senator with an infant is prevented from performing their constitutional responsibilities -- and send a message that working parents everywhere deserve family-friendly workplace policies," said Kaitlin Fahey, Duckworth's chief of staff, in a statement provided to CNN on Monday. "She is optimistic that this will be resolved quickly."Duckworth gave birth to a baby girl on April 9 becoming the first US senator to do so while in office. The senator decided to take her maternity leave in Washington rather than in Illinois so as to be on hand and available to cast her vote, if needed.Leading up to giving birth, the senator openly expressed concerns how the Senate rules might impact her ability to do so while caring for her newborn."If I have to vote, and I'm breastfeeding my child, especially during my maternity leave period, what do I do? Leave her sitting outside?" (AP) — When scientists destroyed the first nest of so-called murder hornets found in the U.S., they discovered about 500 live specimens in various stages of development.Washington state officials said Tuesday that the total included nearly 200 queens that had the potential to start their nests.Still, that didn't end the threat from the giant insects that can deliver painful though rarely deadly stings to people and wipe out entire hives of honey bees.Scientists think other nests already exist and say it's impossible to know if any queens escaped before scientists destroyed the first nest.According to the Associated Press, in the first nest back in October, researchers found:—190 total larvae.—108 pupae.—112 workers.—76 queens, most of them being new virgin queens.According to experts, a few dozen people a year in Asian countries have died from them, despite their nickname, and it could be far less than that, the AP reported.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in comparison, in the U.S., typical hornets, wasps, and bees kill an average of 62 people a year. 1119
