WASHINGTON — Congress is defying President Donald Trump on removing Confederate symbolism from the military.The Senate on Thursday joined the House in approving legislation that would rename bases like Fort Bragg and Fort Benning that are named for Confederate officers.The Senate vote was an overwhelming 86-14 vote. Earlier this week, the House passed the measure with a 295-125 vote.The Senate passage opens the door for the Senate and House Armed Services Committees to open negotiations for a final version of the bill. Walmart just unveiled a new online shop for officially licensed military-branded products.The company said the showcase features about 3,000 items emblazoned with logos from the five branches of the U.S. military -- Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.The items include a "Air Force Dad" T-shirt, a Marines dartboard, and a Coast Guard toy helicopter.The Walmart collaboration aims "to build brand awareness and create multiple touch points for Americans to show support to the U.S. Army," according to a statement from Paul Jensen, the U.S. Army's director of trademark licensing.Walmart says each military branch has approved the suppliers, and the licensing deals mean that the military will collect royalty payments on all of the sales. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities are searching for a man they say was acting suspicious outside an Islamic center in Vista in late March. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the man was seen taking pictures on the Tri-City Islamic Center on March 30. When someone at the center saw the man taking pictures, they invited him inside. When the man saw there were people inside the center, he took off running, deputies say. Witnesses describe the man as Hispanic in his late 20s, about five feet, seven inches tall with a lean or muscular build, short, dark hair and a blonde beard. (KGTV) - A 10-year San Diego Sheriff's Department employee has been arrested for groping a 14-year-old girl at a North County restaurant this year.Timothy Wilson Jr., a 32-year-old Vista detention center deputy, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of felony lewd act on a child for the March 21 incident. VISTA (CNS) - A male recently reported missing from Oceanside was hospitalized this morning after he was struck by an SUV in Vista.The collision was reported just before 3 a.m. at 2405 N. Santa Fe Ave., said San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Kevin Johnston.The pedestrian was struck by a red Dodge Dakota that was southbound on Santa Fe Avenue. ``The driver of the Dodge Dakota looked down briefly and when he looked back up a pedestrian was standing in the middle of the roadway in front of him,'' Johnston said. ``The driver of the Dodge Dakota attempted to swerve but collided with the pedestrian.''Oceanside firefighters provided first aid to the pedestrian who suffered an apparent broken leg and was unconscious with what appeared to be severe head trauma, the sergeant said.He was taken to Palomar Medical Center for treatment, Johnston said.
