These transmissions occurred within enclosed spaces that had inadequate ventilation. Sometimes the infected person was breathing heavily, for example while singing or exercising,” the new section on the CDC’s website reads. “These transmissions occurred within enclosed spaces that had inadequate ventilation.”The World Health Organization changed their guidance in July and noted the prevalence of airborne transmission of coronavirus and particles lingering in the air. The death of another Fort Hood soldier is under investigation after he was found unresponsive at a nearby lake.On Friday, July 17 at 12:07 a.m., deputy’s with the Bell County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of the Stillhouse Hollow Lake Dam after fishermen in a boat located what they believed to be a body in the water at the base of the dam.Upon arrival, deputy’s found the body 26-year-old Pvt. Mejhor Morta was located in the vicinity of Stillhouse Hollow Lake — located about 15 miles east of the Army base.An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin.A preliminary autopsy shows the cause of death to be consistent with drowning, but at this time, a full autopsy report has not been completed or released by the Medical Examiner’s Office in Dallas, Texas.Morta's body was found just weeks after officials found the dismembered remains of Pfc. Vanessa Guillen — a soldier stationed on Fort Hood who went missing in April. Officials have not said that the two cases are linked.Morta was from Pensacola, Florida, and entered the Army in September 2019, as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle mechanic. He has been assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, since May 2020.Friends of Morta say his family is from the Philippines."I reached out to his sister today and they are currently in the Philippines," said Hunter Proffitt, a friend of Morta. "He literally came over here, he joined the U.S. Army to help move his family over here. He wanted to move his family. The Democratic National Committee is eyeing eight American cities for its 2020 Democratic National Convention, a party official tells CNN.The DNC sent requests for proposals to a host of cities and received responses from eight: Atlanta; Birmingham, Alabama; Denver; Houston; Miami Beach; Milwaukee; New York; and San Francisco."The DNC sent the original letters of interest to a broad list of cities that have traditionally been able to meet the preliminary requirements for serving as a host," the official said. "We expect the entire selection process to play out over the next year."The site of the convention often serves as either a symbolic representation of where the party hopes to perform well in the presidential run or an area that represents certain values the party is looking to project.The official also said the party will consider event facilities in each city, transportation options and hotel accommodations.The Republican National Committee plans to announce its 2020 convention site by the end of summer, committee leaders told members earlier this month.The Republicans have kept quiet about the cities they are considering. But Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale has signaled interest in his hometown of San Antonio, and The Charlotte Observer reported that Charlotte, North Carolina, had presented a bid to the RNC.The Democrats held their 2016 convention in Philadelphia. The CDC is considering changing its quarantine guidelines for those who have been in close contact with someone who is infected with the coronavirus.Currently, those who have been in close contact with someone infected with the virus would be advised to quarantine for 14 days. Possible new guidance would shorten the quarantine period to 10 days. At the end of the 10-day period, a test would be need to end quarantine.In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Adm. Brett Giroir, the assistant secretary for health at Health and Human Services, explains why a 10-day quarantine might be more effective at getting more compliance with the guidance."People are much more likely to listen to a 10-day quarantine than they are a 14-day quarantine,” Giroir said. “If we can shorten it safely with most risk because we have a quarantine plus a test, we have a lot of tests available now, that might improve our public health responses.”Giroir stressed that final guidelines have not been approved, and the current guidance still calls for a 14-day quarantine.“It's not an announcement that is happening but we are reviewing it and the CDC team is modeling it and looking at data every day,” Giroir said.“And it may change or it may not. Just depends on where the data and the evidence wind up." According to the CDC, a person can become infected with the virus up to 14 days following exposure.
