The Federal Aviation Administration is barring U.S. pilots and carriers from flying in areas of Iraqi, Iranian and some Persian Gulf airspace. The agency is warning of the “potential for miscalculation or mis-identification" for civilian aircraft amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran. The emergency flight restrictions follow ballistic missile strikes Tuesday on two Iraqi bases that house U.S. troops. Such restrictions are often precautionary in nature to prevent civilian aircraft from being confused for ones engaged in armed conflict. 565

The city of El Paso, Texas is trying to find ways to heal following a mass shooting that killed 22 members of the close-knit community.Everyone is looking for ways to help the grieving community. One aspiring political cartoonist is evening putting politics aside and is doing his part to bring the community together.“It’s just so sad to see something so tragic happen in our city,” says Michael Nunez, an artist from El Paso. Nunez is using his grief to create what he knows best. “It’s not so much that I don’t have emotion,” he says. “It’s that it’s contained, and it has to come out some way and it always out in art.” Nunez began drawing. “Once I knew everyone was OK that I knew, immediate family, I just started drawing,” he says. “The first thing that came to my head was the amigo man crying, but then it grew into two other people the mascots.” He says the artwork represents the El Paso people.“It shows the community coming together, not just one mascot but multiple mascots,” he explains. For Nunez, this cartoon isn’t about politics. “It was emotional. It was a sentiment. It was a concept that I felt captures what we were feeling as a community, coming together and mourning,” he says. Nunez believes healing can be drawn from art.“As a community, everybody gravitates towards it because it’s exactly what they’re feeling,” he says. “They can relate to it.”Art has no borders, and Nunez hopes it can start to draw a bridge to a different discussion. “Hatred like that is ignorant,” he says. “The way to correct that is to open our eyes.”Nunez plans to sell his art for t-shirts and plans to donate all the funds to the families affected by this tragedy. 1683

The House on Thursday passed a health care package that included several bipartisan bills to lower drug costs, but without the support of most Republicans because it also included legislation to strengthen Obamacare. The vote was 234-183. Five Republicans voted to approve the package.Republican representatives, most of whom would have likely supported the drug pricing bills if they were brought up alone, cried foul, saying Democratic leaders had attached the Obamacare legislation as a poison pill that forced a tough vote for the GOP."Instead of delivering a victory for the American people today -- making prescription drugs more affordable -- Democrats are back at it, playing gotcha politics," said Energy and Commerce Committee Republican leader Greg Walden of Oregon.Democrats, meanwhile, argued they were simply delivering on their campaign promises to lower drug costs while bolstering Obamacare and protecting those with preexisting conditions. The Senate is not expected to take up the legislation. While the two parties have been working together on measures to address drug costs, House Democrats are also seeking to reverse many of Trump administration's moves to undermine the Affordable Care Act.The goal of the drug price bills is to make it easier for generic medication to come to market by ending some of the roadblocks that brand name manufacturers erect. For instance, it would ban brand name drug makers from paying generic rivals to delay bringing their lower-cost products to market and would make it easier for generic drug makers to get the samples they need to make their versions. But the legislation would also reverse President Donald Trump's extension of short-term insurance plans, which don't have to adhere to all of Obamacare's rules, so they can reject people with preexisting conditions or charge them higher premiums. The administration last year made these policies more attractive by extending their terms to just under a year, instead of three months. Also included is a measure to restore funding for outreach and assistance during Obamacare's open enrollment period that the President has slashed since taking office. The drug reform bills passed the committee with unanimous bipartisan votes, but the Obamacare provisions were approved on strict party-line votes, according to a senior Republican House aide. The White House also took issue with the combined bills, noting in a statement of administration policy that it contains "positive steps called for by the President to lower drug prices" but also measures that would limit Americans' health insurance choices and coverage. White House advisors would recommend the President veto the bill if it remains in its current form.Thursday's vote comes a week after 2768

The man who police say is seen on video dropping off rice cookers Friday in downtown New York was taken into custody early Saturday morning, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation said.Three rice cookers, initially described as suspicious devices, were discovered Friday morning in Manhattan, prompting a brief scare and causing delays during the busy morning subway commute. All the devices were ultimately deemed safe. The man was found unconscious around 2 a.m. ET at an address in the Bronx and is hospitalized, the source said. He was taken into custody on a previous bench warrant unrelated to Friday's incident and has not been charged in connection with the rice cookers, the source said. The "individual has been located and the investigation continues," NYPD Chief of Detectives 821
