One day after Vermont lawmakers approved sweeping gun control measures that include limits on the size of magazines, gun-rights supporters held a large protest outside the state Capitol in Montpelier.And to boost enthusiasm, they handed out gifts: Hundreds of free rifle magazines, each capable of holding 30 rounds of ammunition.The stunt on Saturday was a direct jab at the new legislation, which Vermont Gov. The amendment to the present law raises the purchase age of guns to 21; bans bump stocks, which allow semi-automatic weapons to fire more rapidly; and limits rifle magazines to 10 rounds.But Vermont residents will be permitted to keep larger-capacity magazines they already own, creating a sense of urgency among state gun owners looking to stock up before the bill becomes law."My fear is that legislators will pass knee-jerk legislation without any depth, any meaning, and it's really not going to make Vermont any safer," Rob Curtis, one of the rally's organizers, told CNN affiliate WCAX. Curtis is executive editor of Recoil, a firearms lifestyle magazine.Curtis reached out to firearm accessory manufacturer Magpul Industries, which shipped 1,200 magazines overnight to Vermont for the rally -- an operation they dubbed the "Green Mountain Airlift." (KGTV) - A woman run over and killed by a construction vehicle at an Oceanside beach was identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.The ME’s Office said 68-year-old Carol Aguirre died in the incident that occurred Sept. 28 on the beach near Oceanside's South Harbor. Aguirre was listed as a transient, the office noted.Oceanside police said the victim was lying on the sand on the beach off the 1200 block of North Pacific Street at around 10 a.m. when the incident happened.RELATED: Woman run over, killed by heavy machinery on beachAccording to police, the woman was apparently asleep when a tractor, which was involved in a dredging project at nearby Oceanside Harbor Beach, struck her.The woman died at the scene.It was not immediately known if the victim was in an area closed off to the public when she was run over by the heavy machinery. 889

The race is a total of 70.3 miles of biking, swimming and running. For one local Camp Pendleton marine, the race meant so much more. Captain John Watkins participated in the Ironman in memory of his daughter, Amelia Mae Watkins, also known as Millie. Millie passed away when she was just 10-years-old from neuroblastoma last year. Since Millie's death, her family raises money to raise awareness about her specific type of cancer. The Watkins raised over ,000 dollars for this race. One of the men convicted of killing Michael Jordan’s dad, James Jordan, will be paroled in 2023, according to multiple reports.Larry Demery and his friend Daniel Green were arrested and tried for murder in the 1993 shooting death of James Jordan. The elder Jordan had stopped at a rest stop for the night to sleep while on his way home from a funeral. Prosecutors said Demery and Green shot him, stole his car and then got rid of his body.In 1996, Demery and Green were sentenced to life in prison. Demery was spared the death penalty at the time because attorneys claimed he did not pull the trigger and he felt remorse, according to the Raleigh News and Observer. Demery pleaded guilty and testified against Green.North Carolina’s Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission released a short statement announcing they approved Demery to take part in a vocational and scholastic program as part of parole. His release date is set for August 6, 2023.Demery was sentenced under old guidelines and is eligible for parole.
