 A woman wielding a kitchen knife has attacked at least 14 children at a kindergarten in Chongqing in central China, local police said Friday.Chongqing City Banan District police said the children were slashed as they walked back to class after their morning exercises at Yudong New Century Kindergarten about 9.30 a.m. local time.Videos circulating on Chinese social media showed small children bleeding from severe cuts to their faces at the entrance of the kindergarten as stunned adults looked on.School security guards and staff restrained the 39-year-old attacker and took her into custody. (KGTV) - A 2-year-old pit bull is being called a hero after five strangers burst into an apartment in Lakeside and attacked his owner.Early Friday morning at the Julian Estates apartments, Ed Neumeister was sound asleep. His rescue dog Hitch was with him in bed. Neumeister's brother was in his own bedroom, awake and gaming."Someone was taking off the screen and sliding the window open," said Neumeister.Neumeister says his older brother heard a noise, and saw a man in his 20s crawling through his bedroom window. He was followed by four others, including a woman. All reeked of alcohol."They told him, 'We have a gun. We have a knife. We're looking for Eric with two dogs," said Neumeister.His brother told them they were at the wrong place. While four of them left the room, the man who remained threatened their pets."He said, 'Do you mind if we kill your animals?'" said Neumeister.Moments, the four intruders were kicking at Neumeister's bedroom door. "I wake up, and I'm being dragged off my bed into the living room," said Neumeister.His memory is hazy, but he says the four intruders pummeled his face for several minutes, leaving him with a black eye, cuts and scrapes. Specialty Produce delivers to more than 700 San Diego restaurants and hotels seven days a week. 40 to 50 percent of the company’s produce comes from Mexico. If supplies aren’t available, prices will go up, according to owner Bob Harrington. “It’s a really bad idea really bad not to trade with Mexico,” Harrington says. Harrington sells 1,200 pounds of Mexican-grown basil a week in San Diego. If he bought the herb in the United States, the price would double. The cost of pineapples would go up 40 percent, Harrington estimates. Items like cucumbers, Roma tomatoes, strawberries, asparagus, and limes would be difficult to find without enough supply to meet the demand. “You won't get fresh limes at restaurants anymore. When you go get margarita you won't have a fresh lime in it.” “It may push restaurants over the edge. "Superman" star Margot Kidder died at age 69, multiple outlets reported. Kidder played the role of Lois Lane in the 1978 "Superman" movie and later starred in three of the movie's sequels with Christopher Reeve. Kidder died Sunday in Montana, according to TMZ. Elder abuse was a problem before COVID-19 hit. The pandemic only exacerbated it, Cirillo said.“We’re all going through these kinds of things and I think you become more vulnerable and emotional and become more open to listening to people who might be trying to exploit you. So isolation is just a killer right now,” says Cirillo.Debby Bitticks says her father-in-law became a victim of elder abuse.“I was really naive in assuming that this person was going to give quality care turned out to be a crook,” Bitticks said. “Everything that you could possibly read about that could go wrong with elder abuse was happening with my father-in-law.”Well before the coronavirus, elder abuse was happening right before her eyes.“We had to hire a private investigator. Of course we notified social services, had to hire an elder care lawyer, yes, we did save his life and brought him to live with us,” Bitticks said.She turned the experience into a movie called "Saving our Parents."“We just want to let people know inspect what you except,” Bitticks said. “Don’t ever assume that your parents are OK without knowing to look for any signs of change.”The film was made in 2008.
