SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- Residents at a University City apartment complex are upset after they claim property managers neglected to warn them about flooding in the parking garage. Now, about ten tenants say their cars are underwater-- most of them totaled. Natali Gonzalez misses her Toyota Camry. She never got to say goodbye."We walked out at around 11 am to retrieve our car, and to our surprise, it was flooded," Gonzalez said. Tuesday morning, Gonzalez walked into the La Jolla Crossroads parking garage to find her car and her neighbors' cars nearly floating.RELATED: UC San Diego students reeling from flooded dorms after storm"I couldn't even open the doors," she said. "The locks weren't working. I had to manually open it."Gonzalez says property management did notify residents three times about a water shut-off, but those warnings said nothing about flooding. At 9:31 am, notices Gonzalez showed us said they had experienced an "unforeseen emergency to the main water line," and that management would provide portable toilets. Five hours later, they said they would provide drinking and cooking water. But at 5:24pm, property management added that there was alternative parking available at a nearby structure — nothing else. "I know they know it was flooded because there were people down there," Gonzalez remembered. "They weren't allowing us to be down there. They said it was unsafe for us to be down there. So I know they were aware of it. But the emails didn't say anything."Gonzalez says not only were they not notified of the rising waters or the damage to her cars, but it also seemed like they were trying to hide it from them. But some of her neighbors don't, so they are down on their luck. She is hoping property management steps up to ensure this never happens again. "I understand things happen," Gonzalez said sympathetically. "But if we would have been notified first thing in the morning, like, 'Hey, the water levels are rising!' The fact that they didn't notify us did bother me, and it would have been nice to receive some notification or some type of apology."10News contacted the La Jolla Crossroads multiple times. We requested that the property management or corporate office return our calls to see why they did not notify residents, or if they would be compensating them for damages. (AP) -- The American Medical Association on Tuesday called for an immediate ban on all electronic cigarettes and vaping devices.The group adopted the sweeping stance at a policy-making meeting in San Diego. It aims to lobby for state and federal laws, regulations or legal action to achieve a ban, but the industry is sure to fight back.The AMA cited a surge in underage teen use of e-cigarettes, which typically heat a solution that contains nicotine.“It’s simple, we must keep nicotine products out of the hands of young people.” Dr. Patrice Harris, AMA’s president, said in a statement.RELATED: DEA says marijuana vaping has health risksThe doctors’ group said a separate health issue also prompted its action — the recent U.S. outbreak of lung illnesses linked to vaping. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Rapper Snoop Dogg and singer Stevie Wonder were among those who took the Staples Center stage Thursday to honor rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was gunned down in front of a clothing store he owned in the South Los Angeles community he was dedicated to revitalizing. The ceremony was the first of its kind at Staples Center since a memorial service for Michael Jackson was held there in 2009.Thousands attended the service, which got began about an hour late due to long lines of people trying to get into the arena. The event began with tracks being played from Hussle's album "Victory Lap.'' At one point, a balloon is believed to have popped, startling the crowd and prompting many people to push into the street. Police formed skirmish lines to push the crowd back, and appeared to restore order without arrests or major injuries.More officers were brought in as the procession neared the location to help keep the street clear.As the procession approached the store around 5:40 p.m., a security team encircled the hearse and walked alongside the vehicle to escort it through the crowd and allow it to keep moving -- at a crawling pace.As the hearse moved into the area, the boisterous crowd became respectfully calm, with spectators lifting their cell phones to snap photos. The convoy repeated came to a stop when people pushed too far into the street, blocking the hearse's path.The 33-year-old Grammy-nominated rapper -- whose real name was ErmiasJoseph Asghedom -- was fatally shot March 31 in front of The Marathon Clothing store. Last week, 29-year-old Eric Ronald Holder Jr., an aspiring rapper and acquaintance of Hussle, pleaded not guilty to one count each of murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, along with two counts of attempted murder.Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Teresa Sullivan ordered Holder to be jailed in lieu of million bail while awaiting his next court appearance May 10, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence to allow the case against him to proceed to trial.Holder could face a potential life prison sentence if convicted as charged, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said Holder got into some type of personal dispute with the rapper outside the store, then left and returned with a handgun. Hussle was shot in the head and body and died at a hospital, according to police and the coroner's office.The police chief declined to discuss the nature of the disagreement between Holder and Hussle but stressed the shooting appeared to be a result of that dispute, not any type of gang rivalry or feud.Hussle transformed himself from a South Los Angeles gang member to a rap musician and channeled his success into efforts to help others stay out of gangs. He bought shoes for students, re-paved basketball courts and provided jobs and shelter for the homeless.Hussle helped renovate a Mid-City roller rink and redeveloped the strip mall that housed his Marathon Clothing shop where he was fatally wounded.On Friday, the Los Angeles City Council is expected to adjourn its regular meeting in honor of Hussle, according to Councilman Marqueece Harris Dawson, a friend of Hussle's. At that same meeting, Harris-Dawson is also expected to introduce a motion to rename the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard as "Ermias `Nipsey Hussle' Asghedom Square.'' 7342
