SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The wife of an active-duty Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton is due in court Thursday on charges of sexually abusing a 15-year-old foreign exchange student who was living with her family on the base.Nicole Marie Wilson, 22, is accused of engaging in sex acts with the unidentified teen on Sept. 20 against his wishes, according to court documents.A detention hearing is scheduled Thursday morning for Wilson, who pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a single count of sexual abuse of a minor in San Diego federal court.Court documents allege Wilson sat next to the boy on the living room couch and asked him to promise that he wouldn't tell her husband, no matter "whatever happens tonight."After their initial encounter made him uncomfortable, the boy told investigators he went to sleep and awoke to Wilson touching him, then performing oral sex on him. She asked him twice whether she should continue, and one time he said, "No," yet she continued anyway, then later had sexual intercourse with him, according to the criminal complaint.She later "apologized" to him "and acknowledged" that it was not consensual, the documents allege.Wilson allegedly told Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigators she had been drinking on Sept. 20 and "blacked out" while watching television with the boy, but denied anything sexual occurred. But a search of her cell phone revealed WhatsApp messages between herself and the teen that confirmed the sexual encounter, court documents allege.It was not clear how long the teen had been living with the family, nor what country he traveled from as part of the foreign exchange program. 1648

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A family’s trip to the pumpkin patch goes sour when thieves went picking through their car while they were picking out their pumpkins.Fay Feltman, her daughter, her granddaughter and great grandson went to the pumpkin patch located off Mission Gorge in Grantville.Because of how busy the lot was, they struggled to find an open space. She tells 10 News her daughter ran to the car to find the window smashed and the purse stolen right from the trunk of the car.Feltman says her and her family were only in the patch for about 30 minutes. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 91-year-old woman died and a younger woman was injured in a crash in Clairemont Friday. The crash happened about 11:30 a.m. in the 6000 block of Balboa Avenue, near Mt. Alifan Drive, authorities said.The older woman was driving south on Mt. Alifan in a gray Toyota Camry. Police said the Camry and a car driven by a 32-year-old woman collided in the intersection of Balboa Ave.Wreckage was strewn across the Auto Zone parking lot at 6085 Balboa Ave.The 91-year-old woman, who has not been identified, died at the scene. The younger woman suffered minor scrapes and bruises, police said.The cause of the collision is unknown. Police said it was possible a car may have run a red light, leading to the crash.Balboa Avenue is closed in both directions from the 6000 block (Mt. Alifan Dr.) to 6600 block (Mt. Albertine Ave.) near Lindbergh/Schweitzer Elementary School. Police believe the road will reopen about 3 p.m. 973

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 14-year-old girl is the first child to die from influenza this season in San Diego.The girl, who died on Feb. 12, had an underlying health condition, according to the County Health and Human Services Agency. She had contracted influenza A, also known as H1N1, the county says, and had not received this season's flu vaccine.“Pediatric influenza deaths are very unfortunate. Our condolences go out to the family,” said Wilma Wooten, County public health officer. “It is extremely important that people get vaccinated because influenza can be deadly.”The teen is one of five flu deaths reported last week, bringing the county's death toll this season to 35 people. The other deaths last week were four men —ages 82, 73, 62 and 56 — and all had underlying medical conditions. Only the 82-year-old and the 56-year-old had been vaccinated, the county says.At this time last season, there had been 268 deaths.“Influenza continues to be widespread. If you have not gotten a flu shot, do it now,” Wooten added.Last week, 539 lab-confirmed cases of influenza were reported, compares to 476 at the same time last season. The majority of cases have been of the H1N1 virus, the county says, which typically affects younger and middle-aged adults because they have not been exposed as much as older adults. 1322

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - With just a few days left of Daylight Saving Time, bicycle riders can go to the Central Library today to pick up lights, courtesy of the San Diego County Bike Coalition.Standard Time, when we move the clock back one hour, arrives Sunday morning, meaning that nightfall will arrive 60 minutes earlier.The Bike Coalition will hand out front and rear lights from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the library in the East Village at 330 Park Blvd.Coalition members will also encourage safe, nighttime commuting with safety information about riding in the dark.State law requires that people riding their bikes at night have functioning front and rear lights, according to the coalition. 699
