TORONTO, Canada, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao visited an aircraft manufacturing facility on Saturday morning, in a gesture to show that China attaches importance to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Canada.Bombardier, a Canada-based global manufacturer of planes and trains, has cooperation projects with China in the areas of civil aviation and rail transportation.It has been working with the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) of China to jointly develop and manufacture the innovative C series of airplanes.Hu toured the factory to have a close look at the components of the Q400 aircraft, which was partly manufactured in Shenyang. BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development said Wednesday that it has begun work on the reconstruction plan for the mudslide-flattened Zhouqu County in northwest China's Gansu Province.An inspection team would be sent to the disaster-ravaged areas to gather information for drawing up the reconstruction plan, the ministry said in a brief statement posted on its website.However, it did not elaborate on the reconstruction plan nor provide detailed information about the inspection team.On the same day, Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu urged authorities to prepare for post-disaster reconstruction of the mudslide-hit regions.He said the responsible authorities must promptly send competent teams to the disaster sites to assess losses so reconstruction plans can be developed on the basis of these findings.The death toll from the massive mudslides in Zhouqu, beginning on Aug. 8, had risen to 1,287 as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, with 457 still missing, the local disaster relief headquarters said.

BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The fifth chartered flight sent by the Chinese government brought 185 more nationals back home from Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday morning, sources with the Foreign Ministry said.The flight arrived at an airport in Urumqi, capital of northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, at 7:17 a.m. (Beijing time) from Osh of Kyrgyzstan, where ethnic clashes have left some 170 people dead. Chinese nationals prepare to board the chartered flight at an airport in Osh, southern Kyrgyzstan, June 15, 2010.The Chinese government has sent five chartered planes to bring home nationals including business people and students in Kyrgyzstan.
