A 66-year-old woman was arrested and preliminarily charged Wednesday with driving into protesters in Indiana.According to the Associated Press, the woman police arrested was Christi Bennett.Hundreds of people were rallying and protesting through Bloomington Monday, following an alleged racist attack at Lake Monroe where several men attacked and apparently attempted to lynch Vauhxx Booker, a Monroe County Human Rights commissioner.Police say an electric scooter had been left in the roadway and a red Toyota passenger car drove up to it. A male passenger then got out and threw the scooter out of the lane of travel. That's when police say a woman approached the vehicle and stood in front of it with her hands on the hood.The vehicle then began to accelerate, according to police, causing the woman to go up onto the hood of the car. A man then grabbed the car and clung to the side of it as it accelerated rapidly on Walnut Street. The man and woman remained on the vehicle until it turned abruptly onto eastbound 6th Street, throwing both people off, according to police.Police say the owner of the car was staying at a motel in Scottsburg, Indiana. They traveled to Scottsburg and detained the man and woman involved. The man was interviewed and released. (KGTV) -- With federal unemployment benefits set to expire July 31, state lawmakers are proposing a plan that would provide some financial relief for jobless Californians.Congress has until Friday to extend the CARES Act, which provides an extra 0 in unemployment benefits to Americans out of work due to the coronavirus pandemic.Proposals have been laid out in Congress to either extend the current federal benefits or extend them with a reduction of the 0-per-week amount, but no agreement appears to be close as the deadline approaches.With time running out, California lawmakers are considering their own plan if a federal one does not materialize.Several state Democrats have proposed a 0 billion stimulus plan that would provide extra cash for California’s unemployed should the federal benefit expire.In a news release from state Sen. Jim Beall’s office, the proposed state plan “aims to raise 0 billion through a new tax voucher program and the acceleration of other existing revenue streams. (KGTV) — Southern California police say they've arrested two people and seized 0,000 in electronics and gift cards in connection to a nationwide phone scam investigation.Fontana Police have arrested Ailing Lu, 25, of Los Angeles and Ji Hyun Lee, 25, of Gardena, over the scam they believe has affected hundreds of victims around the country.Investigators say a victim reported a cold call on Sept. 4 of a scammer impersonating an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) official. The scammer threatened to arrest the victim if they didn't pay them ,200 in Target gift cards.The victim eventually provided the gift cards to the caller and later reported the incident to police.Police tracked the redemption of the gift cards to a Los Angeles Target location, where they investigated surveillance videos of the transactions. Target reported a similar incident from Indiana University Police and investigators compared the two case videos and transactions. Police say they had enough evidence to identify and arrest Lu and Lee after they conducted surveillance on suspected locations and vehicles in Los Angeles.Police served search warrants on two locations as well, discovering about 0,000 in things like gaming systems and computer devices, gift cards, and gift cards from victims.Fontana Police warned the public to contact law enforcement if they receive a similar call and threatening requests.
