SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A sea lion pup in Encinitas was saved Tuesday from a diver's mask that was tightly wrapped around its neck.The year-old sea lion pup was found at Swami's Beach with a diver's mask wrapped around its neck. The sea lion, which only weighed about 32 pounds, appeared malnourished and dehydrated, according to SeaWorld rescue team members.The mask had been wrapped around the sea lion's neck for weeks, preventing the pup from foraging and eating.RELATED: Sea lion lies down in front of San Diego hotel's sign, refuses to budgeHad the mask remained on the pup, the animal would likely have eventually starved to death or been strangled by the mask, crews said.Rescue team members cut the mask off the sea lion, but found that a wound caused by the mask had become infected. Crews took the pup to SeaWorld’s Animal Health and Rescue Center, where officials treated the sea lion's wound.Officials say other than the wound and undernourishment, the sea lion was in good health. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Tesla owner got a road-rage surprise after a quick shopping trip at a Best Buy store in Carmel Mountain Ranch.Cory Janney bought his 2018 Model 3 in December. On Saturday, just past 1 p.m., he and his wife drove through the entrance of The Courtyard shopping center."As we were coming in, a car drove straight through a stop sign. I honked my horn for a millisecond," said Janney.The gray BMW drove off while Janney and his wife parked and went into Best Buy. After about six minutes, they came back to the car."We were both pretty shocked," said Janney.Along the front door on the passenger side was a deep scratch. A look at their dashcam video revealed the culprit. Soon after they parked and went inside, a gray BMW pulls into the parking spot next to their Tesla. A man with a green shirt gets out and looks around. In his hand is something sharp, like a key."He had stiff arm and proceeded to scratch the passenger side of the door, before getting back into the vehicle," said Janney.The "scratch" deep went all the way through, past the clear coat and the paint. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – All orphaned dogs and nearly all cats at the Helen Woodward Animal Center found a home for the holidays, the center announced Thursday. A total of 64 dogs and 35 cats were adopted between December 17 and 23. The “Home 4 the Holidays” campaign started in 1999 in an effort to encourage winter-season pet seekers to choose adoption. Empty kennels give the center the opportunity to save more animals. A new group of orphaned dogs and cats are being transported to the center and will arrive before January. “This is like a little Christmas miracle,” explained Center Operations Director Jennifer Shorey. “We are delighted to help extend this bit of magic into the New Year.” 699

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A unique way to watch movies outdoors is coming to San Diego's waters.Floating Cinema is coming to San Diego on Sept. 2 - 6, organizers say. Tickets will go on sale here.The cinema will include 12 to 24 mini boats that can hold up to eight people per boat. Tickets will require individuals to purchase the entire boat to make sure groups are seated with friends and family only, and to allow for distancing between boats.Throughout the week, the cinema will screen a mix between golden oldies and new releases that will be announced when tickets go on sale. Popcorn will be offered for free, while other movie snacks and drinks will be made available for purchase.Ticket options and movie screening details will be released closer to the event.
