These stresses piling up over the past four months.Licensed Psychologist Dr. Michelle Carcel said she's heard from a lot of exhausted parents and has this advice, "all of us need to take a step back and realize this is an imperfect situation and mistakes will be made and that's okay."She said it's important to create a routine to set barriers with the kids. "Also putting signs in different places where there's play area time and where there's school time. So that way you're making a division with work and play," Carcel added.Post a schedule somewhere that everyone can read, so the kids know when parents are busy and when they can have their attention.She suggests dividing and conquering if possible. Enlist help from your partner, or family members to divvy up the childcare responsibilities.She also said if you aren't happy about the decisions being made, let your representatives know. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Even though many local businesses have struggled amid the pandemic and San Diego County saw an unprecedented spike in unemployment in the second quarter, there has not been a significant jump in the number of empty retail storefronts -- at least not yet.The vacancy rate in San Diego County ticked up slightly to 5.6 percent in the second quarter, according to an analysis by commercial real estate firm CBRE.Vacancies tend to be a lagging indicator. Large national chains like 24 Hour Fitness and Pier 1 Imports have announced closures in recent weeks, but the businesses are still occupying their commercial spaces. 24 Hour Fitness is closing four clubs in San Diego County. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Hundreds of students at nearly a dozen schools walked out of class Friday in protest of the planned layoffs by the Sweetwater Union High School District.The district says cutting the teachers is the last resort to fixing a million budget deficit. About 1,300 students use the district’s dozen learning centers.The state is auditing the district for potential money mismanagement, but the district says the shortfall is because of the decline in student enrollment and revenue.Students say they believe the district should cut the salaries of administrators instead of cutting hundreds of teachers. The company’s senior petroleum analyst, Patrick DeHaan, took to Twitter to announce that prices could soar to .15 to .30 per gallon in the next 10 to 14 days. According to DeHaan, the average price per gallon reached .85 in Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon and is expected to “breach in the next few days.”DeHaan tweeted out earlier Wednesday that prices in Southern California could spike by anywhere between 25 and 40 cents per gallon in the coming days. The news comes amid problems at several California refineries and just weeks after attacks on oil fields in Saudi Arabia. Several of the refinery issues include unplanned work at PBF refinery in Torrance, an outage at Chevron’s Segundo refinery, a flaring event at Valero Benicia and Marathon’s LA refinery, DeHaan says.
