SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Residents in one San Diego neighborhood have grown increasingly worried over reports of large boulders being left in the streets - in some cases, on top of vehicles.Golden Hill residents have reported the boulders appearing at 19th and Broadway, 26th and Broadway, Date Street, and the Golden Pacific Complex.At times, some of the boulders have been covered with cardboard or blankets."It's way too easy, with the way they're positioned, for someone to jump in their car like they do every day and take off and end up running over a giant boulder," said Benn Bruff.Bruff says a 25-pound boulder was placed in the wheel well of his girlfriend's car. Luckily they spotted it before she drove away. San Diego Police tell 10News the issue is very concerning. They are looking for more information and any description of the person responsible. Police says the person could face vandalism charges or obstruction of a roadway. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego is hoping to stamp out a portion of city litter with newly installed cigarette butts receptacles along San Diego Bay.The Port of San Diego installed 31 of the cigarette butt receptacles in partnership with TerraCycle, which developed the disposal stands.Staff from the Port's General Services Department will be in charge of emptying the receptacles and shipping the used cigarette butts to TerraCycle, who in turn will process them to be used in recycled products.RELATED: San Diego County residents still disposing of more waste than other Californians"Reducing litter is a critical step in protecting San Diego Bay, our precious natural resource. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas and Electric customers won’t have to pay millions in wildfire costs tied to the company, according to a new U.S. Supreme Court ruling. The court Monday rejected the utility’s appeal to pass 9 million on to rate-payers. The costs are related to the deadly 2007 wildfires that tore through San Diego County. Investigators say SDG&E equipment sparked the Witch Guejito and Race Fires. The company has denied the claims and says the fires were caused by other factors. The ruling comes roughly a week after SDG&E asked the Public Utilities Commission to raise the bare minimum bill from to per month. The utility claims the change is needed to accurately reflect the costs of keeping low-use customers to the grid. The move would affect anyone whose bill is less than per month. Complications include diarrhea, ear infections, and pneumonia. In severe instances, death can occur.Since there is no treatment for measles, the best course is generally bed rest, fluids, and fever control medication. San Diego placed 11th among 50 other cities around the U.S., but America's Finest City wasn't alone. Los Angeles was ranked 2nd on the list. The company says all areas of the U.S. are prone to subterranean termites, but Pacific U.S. and coastal regions of the Southeast also have the threat of drywood termites. Subterranean termites swarm in the spring and summer while drywood termites usually swam in the late summer and fall.
