Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against an Arizona man after the video game giant claims he operated two websites "built almost entirely on the brazen and mass-scale infringement of Nintendo's intellectual property rights," according to court documents.The lawsuit, filed July 19 in Arizona U.S. District Court, claims Jacob Mathias and his company, Mathias Designs, L.L.C, operated 'LoveROMs.com' and 'LoveRetro.co' — websites lawyers for Nintendo say "are among the most open and notorious online hubs for pirated video games."The company claims Mathias posted thousands of Nintendo games on the sites that were downloadable as files — known as "ROMs" — and playable on phones or computers through software referred to as emulators. In court documents, the company's lawyers said Mathias uploaded an instructional video to YouTube explaining how to download and run the games.Nintendo estimates its titles were illegally downloaded from the sites by more than 60 million people.The company is seeking 0,000 for each infringement of its copyrighted work and up to ,000,000 for each infringement of the Nintendo trademark. NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Residents are fleeing coastal areas in Louisiana as the state braces for a possible hit from consecutive hurricanes. Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards says the fear is the state could see a heavy storm surge from Hurricane Marco, now in the Gulf of Mexico, and a second strike from Tropical Storm Laura before water from the first storm recedes. Laura is now lashing islands in the Caribbean and could grow into a powerful hurricane. The governor says "we've not seen this before." NEW YORK (AP) — The operator of Ann Taylor and Lane Bryant filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Thursday, the latest retailer to do so during the pandemic. Ascena Retail Group, which operates nearly 3,000 stores mostly at malls, has been dragged down by debt and weak sales for years. In a press release, the company said they were closing all of their plus-size stores Catherines.The company also said in the release that they plan to "strategically reduce its footprint with the closing of a significant number of Justice stores and a select number of Ann Taylor, LOFT, Lane Bryant, and Lou & Grey stores."It joins other retailers that have filed for bankruptcy in recent weeks, including Brooks Brothers, Neiman Marcus, J.C. NEW YORK CITY — An ailing swan in Queens was able to get help thanks to a trained wildlife rescuer and the New York City subway.Ariel Cordova-Rojas was on a bike ride around Jamaica Bay last Thursday when she noticed a swan sitting apart from others along the shore."It seemed odd, but swans can be solitary," Cordova-Rojas said. "As I got closer, she stayed stationary. They're usually aggressive and territorial, you can't get close without them trying to attack, and I knew something was wrong."She estimates she carried the 17-pound bird about a mile to the ranger station. Two Good Samaritans helped give her a lift to the subway station at Howard Beach, which she rode about 10 stops to Nostrand Ave;.Cordova-Rojas has worked at the Wild Bird Fund on Columbus Ave. in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and knew they could care for the swan there. More of her friends helped complete the trip by car.Once arriving at the Wild Bird Fund, researchers diagnosed her with lead poisoning.
