BROOKLYN, Iowa — The family and friends of Mollie Tibbets, missing since July 18, have set up a reward fund in hopes that information leading to her whereabouts will find its way to authorities soon."We believe Mollie is still alive, and if someone has abducted her, we are pleading with you to please release her," a spokeswoman for the family said during a news conference Thursday morning. She urged anyone with information to call the tip line (800) 452-1111 or submit tips via Crimestoppers of Central Iowa website.Anonymous tips funneled through Crimestoppers of Central Iowa will be shared with authorities and investigators working to locate Mollie while ensuring the protection of the identities of those providing information, she said. As of 10 a.m. Thursday, 2,000 had been raised for the reward fund. "It is our greatest hope that if someone has her, that they would just release her and claim that money that we have raised for her freedom," she said.Getting the information out beyond Mollie's community will be key to finding her, Greg Wiley said at the press conference. Wiley addressed the security technology behind the P-3 anonymous tip line, which encrypts and scrubs the identity and provides only an ID number."If they contact us, we can protect their identity. ...We don't know who you are even if we wanted to know who you are," he said. "We have no way of contacting them back." Law enforcement gets information from Crimestoppers almost immediately. 1563
BEIRUT (AP) — Lebanon’s prime minister says he is stepping down from his job in the wake of the Beirut port explosion last week that triggered public fury and mass protests. In a brief televised speech, Prime Minister Hassan Diab said on Monday that he is taking “a step back” so he can stand with the people “and fight the battle for change alongside them.”He said: “I declare today the resignation of this government. May God protect Lebanon,” repeating the last phrase three times.A brief while earlier, Diab’s Cabinet resigned. The resignations risk opening the way to dragged-out negotiations over a new Cabinet amid urgent calls for reform. The developments follow a weekend of anti-government protests in the wake of the Aug. 4 explosion in Beirut’s port. The massive blast on Aug. 4 destroyed much of Beirut's port, damaged large parts of the city, killed at least 160 people and injured about 6,000 others. It brought a new wave of public outrage at the government and Lebanon’s long entrenched ruling class. 1020

Boeing will cut more jobs as it continues to lose money and revenue during a pandemic that has smothered demand for new airline planes. The company said Wednesday that it expects to cut its workforce to about 130,000 employees by the end of next year, down 30,000 from the start of this year. That is far deeper than the 19,000 reductions that the company announced three months ago."The global pandemic continued to add pressure to our business this quarter, and we're aligning to this new reality by closely managing our liquidity and transforming our enterprise to be sharper, more resilient, and more sustainable for the long term," said Boeing President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Calhoun in a news release.Boeing is updating its plans for jobs on the same day it's reporting a 9 million loss for the third quarter, a swing from the .17 billion it earned in the same period last year. Calhoun added that revenue in the third quarter for commercial airplanes was decreased to .6 billion due to COVID-19 lowering delivery volume.According to CNN, Boeing's shares dropped about 2% on Wednesday. The loss was narrower than analysts expected, however. Revenue tumbled 29% to .14 billion. 1210
