MANILA, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine government will provide the Chinese government a copy of the final report on the Aug. 23 hostage-taking incident before it divulges the findings to the public, the presidential palace said on Friday night.Secretary Ricky Carandang of the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office made the statement after President Aquino met with the Incident Investigation and Review Committee (IIRC) led by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, following the submission of the final report on the incident that killed eight Hong Kong nationals."We have to communicate this to Beijing first before we make it public," Carandang said, adding that the presidential palace only "wants to be careful" in handling the sensitive matter.He said that the high-level Philippine delegation will still go to Beijing and Hong Kong to formally present the report to their leaders but this will have to be done after the President's working visit to the United States.The President and his delegation to the United States will depart on Monday night and will return on Sept. 28.

BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group on Sunday turned down the suggestion by Yahoo chief executive officer Carol Bartz that she be allowed to join the board of Alibaba, replying that Bartz should focus on improving Yahoo's own business first.Wang Shuai, chief marketing officer of Taobao.com under the group, said he has been "perplexed" by Bartz's decisions and attitudes since she became CEO of Yahoo in January 2009, claiming: "They demonstrate a lack of appreciation of the Internet, the mainland market and business partners."In response to Bartz's suggestion that she join the board of Alibaba, Wang said: "Perhaps it would not be a bad idea for her to concentrate her efforts on improving Yahoo's current situation."On Friday, Bartz touted Yahoo's 39 percent investment in Alibaba, a day after the Chinese Internet company said Yahoo had rejected its offer to sell the stake back to the group.The 62-year-old executive said the ideal time for Yahoo to exit from Alibaba will be after Taobao.com and Alipay.com, Alibaba's online shopping and payment subsidiaries, go public. BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Premier Wen Jiabao's three-day U.N. visit this week has been fruitful as a major diplomatic effort at a time when new changes are emerging in the world economy and politics, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told reporters Friday.Wen was in New York from Tuesday to Thursday for the U.N. Summit on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the general debate of the 65th session of the U.N. General Assembly, a summit of the U.N. Security Council member states, and a high-level discussion panel on AIDS and MDGs. He also met with U.S. President Barack Obama on bilateral ties and regional and world issues, calling for more cooperation.Yang said Wen made the New York trip as the world economy stabilized and started to show improvement but the recovery remained unbalanced and was still not solid.The international community has, in general, made significant progress on meeting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the minister said. he said, however, more imminent is the imbalance in international development and there are new challenges in international cooperation and development.The developing countries want more attention from the international community on the development issue, the minister said, and countries are ever more willing to promote peace, development and cooperation.
