GLENDORA, Calif. (CNS) - A chase suspect who allegedly stole drills led authorities on an over two-hour pursuit Tuesday afternoon from Glendora to downtown Los Angeles, at one point stopping at a gas station to fill up his tank.The chase started about 4:10 p.m. after the suspect allegedly stole drills from The Home Depot store located at 1305 S. Lone Hill Ave., according to Lt. James De Mond of the Glendale Police Department.By 5:10 p.m., the suspect was in the unincorporated Avocado Heights area near Industry, where he pulled into a gas station near Valley Boulevard and Santa Mariana Avenue.It appeared that one person ran from the vehicle, and the driver stood outside the vehicle for a couple of minutes before getting back inside and driving westbound on Valley Boulevard.Shortly after, the suspect pulled into another gas station near Valley Boulevard and Peck Road, and ran inside the store to apparently pay for gasoline. He pumped gas briefly then got back onto Valley Boulevard.He drove on multiple freeways throughout the pursuit, including the Long Beach (710), San Bernardino (10), Pomona (60) and Santa Ana (101) freeways, where he exited at Fourth Street and drove into downtown Los Angeles.It was not immediately clear what happened to the suspect after he entered downtown Los Angeles about 6:20 p.m. 1331

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — As we get closer to a potential COVID-19 vaccine approval in the U.S., doctors are hoping the public actually gets the vaccine once it’s available.Recent polling from Pew Research shows about 60% of Americans say they would ‘definitely’ or ‘probably’ get a COVID-19 vaccine.Local infectious disease doctors tell WXMI that that number will be just enough to put a serious dent in infections, but the more immunity, the better.Dr. Andrew Jameson, the Division Chief for Infectious Disease at Mercy Health said, “I am optimistic for the first time in a while.”Dr. Jameson added that he’s seeing a bit of light at the end of a very long tunnel with a COVID vaccine approval potentially just days away.“I can tell you right now from what I’ve seen, from an efficacy standpoint, from a safety standpoint, I am going to be definitely getting the vaccine personally and I have zero issues of giving my family the vaccine when it’s available,” Dr. Jameson said.With two COVID-19 vaccines on deck for approval with the FDA, one from Pfizer and one from Moderna, Dr. Jameson is hoping that people feel confident in getting it once they’re able.“If we get about 60% of people immunized and then we also have the natural immunity out there giving us a little bit of extra help, I think that is going to be a huge impact,” Dr. Jameson said.Dr. Jameson said he also understands that people may be wary of such a new vaccine.“Unfortunately, we’ve had a fair amount of skepticism in the community about vaccines before all of this, and now in the setting of this being moved forward pretty quickly, I think there’s probably a little bit of a natural skepticism,” he said.He said the biggest reason he’s heard for not wanting the vaccine is that things are just moving too fast.“Before this, the fastest that we ever had a vaccine get from the beginning to the end to where people were getting it, was four years, and this one is going to be about 10 months,” Dr. Jameson said.Dr. Jameson called the trial and manufacturing process of both companies vaccines, ‘the most transparent’ he’s ever seen and trusts the FDA to leave no stone unturned before approval.“They get all the notes from the doctors, they get all the patient encounter visits from the sites that are doing the vaccine, so they actually get all of the raw data and re-interpret it and re-analyze it themselves for efficacy, so they don’t just believe what the drug manufacturers tell them,” he explained.He wants people to also understand potential vaccine side effects, to make sure they come back for their second dose. GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. — On Wednesday, Diedre Rutherford of Grand Island said she received a massive package outside her home. Inside the package were hundreds of smaller packages, all addressed to people in Canada."This box was packed full. It was heavy," she said. "It's going to be expensive to ship it back."Eager to open what she thought might have been a gift from a family member, Rutherford rushed to open the package."I opened it up, and I initially thought that this packaging was packaging around whatever was stuck in the middle of this box," she said. "I kept digging, and no, there was nothing in there. Just more of these packages."When Rutherford realized the package must have been sent by mistake, she tried to return it to the post office, but she said it was denied."They said the box was addressed to you. You opened, it's yours," Rutherford said.Now, she's stuck with hundreds of little packages."It's like I've been hired to do something," she said.Melanie McGovern of the Better Business Bureau says Rutherford was likely the victim of a "reshipping scam," where a company will send a package to a random recipient and ask them to send it out to other people."A lot of times, you're never going to get reimbursed for the money that you spend shipping. You don't know what's in the packaging. It could be things that are illegal," McGovern said.McGovern says companies can get a hold of a victim's shipping information when they apply to things like stay at home warehouse jobs or online Secret Santa sign-ups."A lot of people fall for this scam, especially during the pandemic," she said. "We did see a little bit of an increase in this, especially in the beginning of the year."McGovern says anyone who receives a package that's been addressed to them that they didn't order should hold off on opening it right away."Check that return address. Look it up. See if it's a legitimate company or not," she said. "You don't want to end up on some weird mailing list like it sounds like she did in this situation. So keep track of that stuff."From now on, Rutherford said she's going to be extra careful when it comes to opening packages."I would warn people to do the same thing," she said. "Look at the return address on the box before you open it to see if it looks like it's from a company that has a name and that it sounds like it's from someplace instead of just a random warehouse in New Jersey."Raymond Williams, an inspector at the United States Postal Office, says anyone who receives a miscellaneous package should call the 24-7 USPS hotline at 1-877-876-2455. (AP) — An employee of California State University, Fullerton was killed in a stabbing in a campus parking lot Monday in what police called a targeted attack, though they were not sure of a motive.The victim was in his late 50s and worked in international student admissions at the sprawling campus in Orange County, police Lt.
