It takes just 10 minutes to fill out and can be done online.Why is it so important? Its results are used to determine how much money municipalities gets from Washington for everything from housing to hospitals, roads, bridges, and schools. (KGTV) - As different industries and businesses are given the green light to begin the reopening phase after coronavirus restrictions, one industry says they’re being left in the dark. Brian Nguyen is the owner of two Hillcrest nail salons in San Diego and said they’re upset with the lack of information surrounding when nail salons will be able to reopen in California.“Very frustrated, seeing all these other businesses being able to open and nothing mentioned about us, not even a word,” he said.He said between the two salons they own in Hillcrest, they’ve had to pay around ,000 in rent during the three months of closure, while also losing at least an estimated six figures in revenue.In May, Governor Newsom had said Phase 3 of reopening would include hair salons, nail salons, barbershops, gyms, and movie theaters for counties that meet certain metrics. So far, all businesses on that list have been told either they can open or when they can open, except nail salons.When the closures started, Nguyen said they immediately began planning how to safely reopen. As a nail salon, they already took sanitizing steps and technicians wore masks and gloves, which will continue. In addition, they purchased panels for manicures that will go between the technician and the customer that will be cleaned between customers. All chairs will also be sanitized between people. They will take everyone’s temperatures before entering and are asking all customers to fill out a quick survey about their current health. GENEVA (AP) — The European Union’s Earth observation program says the ozone hole over Antarctica has swelled to its largest size and deepest level in years.Experts at the Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Service say a strong, stable and cold polar vortex has driven the expansion, and have called for greater international efforts to ensure countries abide by an international accord to phase out use of ozone-depleting chemicals.Vincent-Henri Peuch, who heads the service, said in a statement that the ozone hole was “definitely” among the largest in the last 15 years.“With the sunlight returning to the South Pole in the last weeks, we saw continued ozone depletion over the area,” Peuch said. “After the unusually small and short-lived ozone hole in 2019, which was driven by special meteorological conditions, we are registering a rather large one again this year, which confirms that we need to continue enforcing the Montreal Protocol banning emissions of ozone depleting chemicals.”Since the ban on halocarbons, officials say the ozone layer has slowly been recovering and data shows a trend in decreasing area of the ozone hole.Ozone depletion over the Antarctic continent was first noticed in 1985. 1217
