(AP) — Authorities say a California community college instructor with ties to the far-right extremist "boogaloo" movement is in custody on suspicion of sending misogynistic and threatening letters to a county health officer involving the pandemic. The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that deputies arrested 55-year-old Alan Viarengo and seized 138 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition from his home in Gilroy. "it's an opportunity for people to carry their lunch anywhere, whether it's in a backpack or purse."But there is more to these storage kits, as they are also environmentally safe."The average number of sandwich bags that children are carrying is about four, and that's daily. Most of them are ending up in the landfill."Jessica calls her kits, "storage anywhere food ware", and with the COVID-19 pandemic, they've teamed up with local restaurants and farms, to deliver healthy food in the kits, to front line workers. "We put together over 200 meals, and we sent these out to front line workers. They can keep these containers and reuse them. SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Two men were arrested in Mexico Wednesday after authorities say someone shot at a Border Patrol agent. The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday roughly a mile and a half away from the San Ysidro Port of Entry. A spokesperson with Border Patrol says the agent radioed in and said someone shot at him. RELATED: Border Patrol agent injured after rock thrown at patrol carAuthorities in Mexico responded and were able to locate two men and a firearm. Both men were arrested. According to the agency, no one was injured and the patrol car was not hit by the gunfire. 607

(KGTV) - Customs and Border Protection closed three lanes of traffic heading into the United States from Mexico Tuesday morning.In a statement, CBP said it was “to install and pre-position port hardening infrastructure equipment in preparation for the migrant caravan.”One lane of traffic was also closed at the Otay Mesa port of entry.It comes as active-duty troops have been working to add barricades and fencing as part of “Operation Secure Line.”On Tuesday, troops could be seen moving barriers covered with barbed wire along the border, periodically closing the southbound lanes into Mexico.In their statement, CBP officials warned “persons traveling northbound to the U.S. anticipate possible increased wait times because of the lane closures.”Even before the lanes were closed, wait times of six to seven hours had been reported at peak times in the standard lanes. Part of that was due to traffic control by authorities on the Mexican side.Travel as a pedestrian, however, has not appeared to be affected.Rebecca Fodor walked across Tuesday night and said it only took a few minutes. She said she did notice armed troops in camouflage uniforms.“It didn’t really change anything. I think they were just watching for anything suspicious,” she said.The lane closures will remain in effect indefinitely.
