A law class at Georgia State University will focus on the life and career of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kandi Burruss this upcoming semester. In a press release, the university said the singer, songwriter, actress, and entrepreneur will be the subject of Professor Mo Ivory's course of Entertainment, Sports, and Media Law Initiative, which prepares students for Georgia’s growing entertainment industry.“I chose Kandi because she has an amazing career, which spans every aspect of the entertainment industry from music, television, and live performance to licensing, apparel, and more,” Ivory said in the news release. “I wanted to study a woman this time around, and having worked with Kandi in the past, I knew she was the perfect choice. She handles her business and it shows with her success, but all the while she’s completely approachable and willing to share her lessons learned. I couldn’t be happier for my students to learn the law through Kandi’s career.”The course, which began in 2018, focused on the life of rapper and actor Ludacris last year.“I am honored to be part of this year’s curriculum at Georgia State University College of Law,” Burruss said in the release. “Attorneys are among the most important members of your team. It’s imperative you have the right lawyers around you to assist in making the best decisions. Every contract you sign is building towards your overall dreams and goals. I’m excited to see the students get a first-hand look into some of the contracts that have shaped my career thus far.”According to the school, students will study the business contracts the Grammy Award-winning songwriter has had through the years. 1677

A Colorado man is changing the next chapter of history by helping his local library buy more books about Black history and cultural diversity.Kevin Gebert retired from the aerospace industry six years ago and started a nonprofit for minority children, but when COVID-19 shut down schools, he found himself with extra time. He used the spare time to read "The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration" by Isabel Wilkerson. It's a book filled with lessons on Black history."I read this book and by the time I got a quarter of the way through it, I thought about the impact this book could have on school kids, adults," Gebert said. His curiosity took him to the Louisville Public Library, where he discovered the book selection on race and cultural diversity was slim. Gebert said the library only had one copy of "The Warmth of Other Suns," and 16 people were on a wait list."It will probably be into next year before everyone has had a chance to read it," he said.He launched a fundraiser with the library to expand the collection of culturally diverse books, books about Black history, race and equality. With the help of friends, Gebert compiled a list of 20 books to add to the library collection."(Library staff) are going to go through the list of books that were recommended and they will make the decision as to how many they buy," he said. "We will want to have enough books that people won't have to wait for 16 weeks."He hopes his mission will spark change in a growing generation and catch on at libraries across the nation. This story originally reported by Adi Guajardo on TheDenverChannel.com. 1637

A bus carrying 50 people overturned in northern Mississippi on Wednesday afternoon, killing two on board, ABC News reported citing a local coroner. According to ABC News, heavy sleet coated roadways in the area, which may have been a factor in Wednesday's accident. Interstate 269 was closed in both directions near the site of the crash. WREG-TV reported that 46 people were on board the bus at the time of the accident. The bus was chartered in a route from Huntsville, Alabama to Tunica, Mississippi. 531

A comparison of 30 back-to-school supplies found a wide price range between popular stores like Target, Walmart, King Soopers, Office Max, Safeway and Staples. The comparison, completed by UGrocery founder Eva Fry, found the same items at King Soopers are more than cheaper than at Staples. See the comparison here.Fry said this is her third year doing the price comparison and for the third year in a row, King Soopers was the cheapest."King Soopers, Walmart and Target were within 5 percent, within just a couple dollars," Fry said. "You may have a greater selection at Target and Walmart, but the prices were surprisingly really affordable at King Soopers. They put out a good sale promotion this time of year to lure customers in."If you're looking to save money, Fry says shop early in the morning for the best selection, stick to your shopping list and leave the kids at home."I've found throughout the years, with my three kids, if I take kids to the store with me, they get emotional about their purchases. They see cute folders with puppies and they want those," Fry said. She said leave kids at home, stick to the list and you'll save a lot of money. She also recommends using coupons from the Sunday inserts and coupons you can find on King Soopers' Clicklist and Target's Cartwheel app.Fry said you should also look for generic or store brands."The Avery binders, the three-ring binders, those are always more expensive. Those were .99 for a 1-inch binder at Target. The Up and Up brand, same binder in my opinion, was a .89. Why would I want to pay more for a binder?" Fry said. When you're shopping for three kids, the savings really add up.Are there any things you should wait on? Fry suggests waiting on shoes, so they don't get dirty before school starts. She also said to wait on new school clothes until September."I find clothing goes on sale in September," Fry said. "You'll see a lot of promotions right now, but the prices are not discounted at this particular time. They actually go down in September."Learn more on Fry's blog. 2076

A day after President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden took part in dueling town hall events on Tuesday, both will hit the campaign trail Friday as they enter the 2020 presidential race's final stretch.Trump held several political events on Friday. He was at an event for seniors in Ft. Myers and held campaign rallies in Ocala, Florida and Macon, Georgia.Biden campaigned in Michigan on Friday, where he gave remarks on affordable healthcare and attended a drive-in voter mobilization event.Watch Biden's speech below:Both Trump and Biden held their own town hall events Thursday — the day in which both were originally scheduled to participate in the second presidential debate. After Trump contracted COVID-19 earlier this month, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced the second debate, a town hall, would take place virtually. Trump subsequently said he would not participate, and the debate was later canceled.Upon learning that Trump would not participate in a virtual debate, the Biden campaign reached an agreement with ABC News to hold its own town hall. The Trump campaign then struck a deal with NBC News on Wednesday to hold its own town hall event at the same time.In his town hall event, Trump often sparred with moderator Savannah Gutherie. At one point, Trump refused to denounce the QAnon conspiracy — whose followers have been linked to violent acts in the past.Trump repeatedly said he "didn't know" about the conspiracy theory, despite saying he "appreciates" the support its followers give him earlier this summer.During his event, Biden said he's "not a fan" but chose not to rule out "packing" the Supreme Court — the Constitutional but precedent-breaking act of adding more justices to the high court to balance the high court's political influence."I'm open to considering what happens from that point on (Judge Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation vote)," Biden said. 1933
