VALLEY CENTER (CNS) - A motorist was killed today when he crashed his car off a two-lane rural road northeast of Escondido while trying to pass another vehicle at high speed, authorities reported.The 35-year-old San Marcos resident lost control of his Acura TL while attempting to steer around a slower-moving Toyota Highlander on Valley Center Road near Rock Hill Ranch Road about 1:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.The Acura sideswiped the SUV, then skidded off the roadway and crashed into a power pole and a tree, killing the driver and sole occupant of the sedan, CHP public-affairs Officer Mark Latulippe said.The 35-year-old San Marcos woman behind the wheel of the Toyota was unharmed, as were the six young children riding in her vehicle, Latulippe said. 790

VALLEY CENTER (CNS) - The first two homebuilders were named Wednesday for a master-planned community to be built on the site of a former dairy farm in Valley Center.Shea Homes and Beazer Homes will construct some of the 632 planned residences in the 186-acre Park Circle being developed by Touchstone Communities, a San Diego-based real estate investment and land development company.Walnut-based Shea Homes has an office in San Diego. Beazer Homes, based out of Atlanta, has built communities in Fallbrook and Oceanside.The Park Circle community will be the core of Valley Center's South Village and has been in the making for seven years. The first model homes are expected to be completed later this year.Details throughout the community will pay homage to the former Konyn Dairy, which operated on the site for nearly 40 years before closing in 2008, according to the developer."Beazer and Shea have proven reputations and family-focused attitudes, which made selecting them an easy choice," said Kerry Garza, president of Touchstone Communities.The overall master plan will feature homes ranging from 1,300 to 3,300 square feet in a variety of architectural styles across eight distinct neighborhoods."We are honored to be part of the exciting new Park Circle community. VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – Authorities have released surveillance footage showing Naya Rivera before her disappearance and the 911 call that led to the search for the "Glee" star.Rivera is presumed dead after disappearing while boating with her 4-year-old son at Lake Piru in Southern California.The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office says Rivera rented a boat at the lake Wednesday afternoon and went for an excursion with her son. Thursday evening, officers released security camera footage of the two at the boat launch.Boaters tell authorities that they later found Rivera’s boat drifting in the northern portion of the lake with her son sleeping onboard. A woman called 911 and notified law enforcement of the situation."The emergency is: We have a missing person," an employee of the rental boat business said. "We found a little girl in one of the boats by herself, and the mom's nowhere to be found."The 911 caller initially said the boy was a girl, because of his long hair, KCBS reports.Rivera’s son told investigators that he and his mother had been swimming in the lake and he had gotten back on the boat, but his mom didn’t.Authorities say the child had a life vest on and an adult life vest was found on the boat. The child is healthy and with family.Since Rivera’s disappearance, authorities have been using helicopters, boat crews, divers and unmanned aerial vehicles to search the lake, but there’s been no sign of Rivera yet.Thursday evening, the sheriff’s office announced that the search for the actress has turned into a recovery mission and that she is presumed dead.“Investigators believe Rivera drowned in what appears to be a tragic accident,” the office wrote in a press release.Rivera is best known for her role as Santana on the Fox TV show “Glee.” She appeared in nearly every episode of the musical comedy drama since 2009. 1856

"Sometimes, people are more comfortable talking about what's happening when they can choose who can reply. We've seen people use these settings to have conversations that weren't really possible before. Starting today, everyone will be able to use these settings, so unwanted replies don't get in the way of meaningful conversations."Users can reply with the following three options: everyone, only people the user follows, or only people you, the user, mention.
