When the City's EIR failed to study alternatives to demolition, we put our faith in the Court to enforce CEQA. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local marine is recovering from COVID-19 while deployed overseas.Jennifer Dulaney says her husband, Kyle, was deployed in April and is serving at a base in Okinawa. He tested for COVID-19 earlier this month.“My husband called me on a Monday morning as I was getting ready for work and said he felt like he was getting symptoms,” Jennifer said.Kyle got worse and was eventually sent to the ICU. His condition began to worsen that he qualified for the Remdesivir. It was described as an experimental drug, and doctors needed Jennifer’s permission to administer it to Kyle.Jennifer is a nurse and knew that COVD-19 could be very severe.“I know where COVID can go, they can spiral downwards real fast,” she said, “so for me, the benefits outweighed the risk.”Jennifer said he began to show improvement on the fifth day. She was able to him Friday morning.“They were drawing his lab work because that’s one of the things with the experimental (treatment), they have to watch things very closely,” she described, “but he actually laughed on the phone, he was able to talk to me without coughing. According to AAA, 31 people were injured in DUI-related crashes last year over Labor Day weekend.Statewide, eight people were killed in DUI crashes last year. “While alcohol-related crash fatalities have dropped in the last three years over this holiday, injuries have risen,” said Auto Club Traffic Safety Manager Anita Lorz Villagrana.“We want to remind everyone to make a plan before celebrating – use a rideshare service, stay at a hotel or someone’s home, or designate a sober driver. It's more sophisticated than swiping left or right, and it can help anyone looking for a job or career change.It's called My Next Move. The San Diego Workforce Partnership released it after a yearlong effort. The highlight is a 60-question questionnaire that gauges a job seeker's interests. For each task, a job seeker will choose an option from "strongly disagree" to "strongly agree." Examples include investigating the start of a fire, repairing and replacing locks, or examining blood under a microscope.At the end, the system will provide a list of sectors that the best fit the job seeker, including local retraining programs, salary information, top hiring employers, and open jobs. "Think of it like Match.com for careers," said Sarah Burns, the partnership's director of research application. "Once you get a career match, it says okay, well if you want to take the next step in this relationship, then here's what you do."Burns said the system will give each test-taker a percentage matching their interests to the potential career. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was hospitalized after becoming stuck in a cargo elevator shaft at a downtown grocery store.San Diego Fire-Rescue was called to Ralph's grocery store on G St. just after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday to a report of someone stuck in the elevator. Crews arrived to find a man who had been working on the elevator trapped in the elevator shaft.Firefighters worked to free the man and take him to a nearby hospital. The extent of his injuries wasn't immediately known.A witness who works at the grocery store said the man was working on the cargo shaft when someone pressed the elevator button, trapping the man inside. 640
