SAN YSIDRO, California — Migrants rushed the border Sunday morning, forcing the closure of the San Ysidro Port of Entry and several San Diego interstates. Southbound Interstate 5 and 805 closed at State Route 905, forcing drivers to be rerouted on one of the busiest travel days of the year. All north and southbound lanes of the port of entry were also closed to all vehicles and pedestrians, halting traffic. Las Americas Premium Outlets was also shut down due to safety and security. Check out the map below for more:  559

(AP) — Police say a former professional baseball player sought in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend in a Phoenix suburb was found dead Saturday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Grand Canyon. Scottsdale police say the body of Charles Haeger, 37, was discovered about 4 p.m. on a trail along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona. Sgt. Ben Hoster says police were seeking Haeger on suspicion of murder and aggravated assault in the fatal shooting Friday. The victim was identified by police Saturday night as Danielle Breed, 34. According to mlb.com, Haeger was a pitcher drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2001, and he played 83 innings in the major leagues. 713

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) - It’s been two days since 29 year old Frank Stricker drove his truck into a crowd of street vendors near the border in Mexico. Court records from Utah show Stricker should have never been behind the wheel in the first place because he has a suspended license. The court records show Stricker has been arrested six times since 2008 in Utah and has 47 criminal charges, all mostly drug related. RELATED: 'We were fleeing for our lives.' Passenger speaks out after Tijuana crashStricker was last arrested on May 6, 2019. Police say he was driving on a suspended license, without a registration and no proof of insurance. Police say he also had drug paraphernalia in the vehicle when they pulled him over. Mexican authorities tell 10News Stricker is facing charges of attempted homicide and property damages. They expect him to be arraigned Thursday in Mexican court. In the crash Monday afternoon, Stricker hit 17 vehicles, 12 vendor carts and injured three people. (KGTV) - Several immigrants' rights groups allege harassment and one man says he was strip-searched by Customs and Border Protection agents.The Southern Poverty Law Center, the Center for Constitutional Rights, and the American Immigration Council filed a motion requesting more information from the U.S. government regarding the detention of the Director of Al Otro Lado, calling their acts retaliation for helping asylum seekers.Hugo Castro, Director of Border Angels, Tijuana, spoke with 10News about his experience last December."I was sent to secondary for no reason," Castro said. He was in Mexicali for a doctor's appointment when he was detained by a CBP officer."The officer searched me, said I didn't have a weapon and was trying to grab me and I said hey, you don't need to grab me, just tell me what to do," He said the next 5 hours were unnerving. "They took my cellphone... after that they searched me, body search, and took off my shoes and look all around my, through my pants and underwear," he said looking at the ground.Castro said he was interrogated about migrants and the immigration rights' group Al Otro Lado."You know, if I was part of the caravan the organizers. If we were paying migrants, if we were helping migrants to cross the border."Castro said he explained to the officer he helps bring donations to nine shelters in Tijuana. Castro said he was detained for five and a half hours. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson addressed the nation on Tuesday following the announcement President Donald Trump had removed him from the position, saying his final say of service will be March 31."Between now and then, I will address a few administrative matters related to my departure," he said.Tillerson's responsibilities will be delegated to Deputy Secretary John J. Sullivan.He also said much attention needs placed on the issues with Russia, and that much work is needed when it comes to relations with China.Tillerson closed by thanking everyone for the "privilege of serving" in the Secretary of State position over the last 14 months. "All of us, we know, want to leave this place as a better place for the next generation," Tillerson said.He will return to being a private citizen, he said.Tillerson has been replaced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo.
