SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --  On Monday a settlement was reached in two cases against San Diego Sheriff's Deputy Richard Fischer. Those settlements come to a total of more than 0,000. 10News has been covering the story since November when a victim shared her story with Reporter Steve Fiorina. The Sheriff's Department opened an investigation into Fischer last fall after a woman claimed he groped her while responding to a service call.The investigation then expanded to more than a dozen incidents against Fischer dating back to 2015.RELATED: San Diego County sheriff's deputy accused of sexual misconduct pleads not guiltyThe 32-year-old deputy is on unpaid leave and out on bail pending criminal court cases. At his February arraignment in a Vista courtroom, Fischer pleaded not guilty to all charges. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two families will forever be connected after an organ donation saves the life of a woman struggling with heart disease for nearly a decade. Susan Amador's son, David Rivera died, at the age of 30, in 2017 of a brain bleed, caused by a rare clotting disorder. The 30-year-old left behind a 4-year-old and his fiancee. Rivera was a registered organ donor and his organs helped save the lives of five people. His heart was donated to a woman named Sandra, of Chula Vista. On Monday, Rivera's family met the woman who now carries their loved ones' heart. The meeting was made possible through Lifesharing Donate Life, an organization that coordinates organ and tissue donation in San Diego and Imperial Counties. Rivera's mom hopes her story will encourage more people to sign up to be organ donors. 824

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Veterans Day will mark the last "fee-free" day of the year for visitors at Cabrillo National Monument.On Nov. 11, visitors will not be charged admission to visit the San Diego landmark as part of the National Park Service promotion — offered on several days throughout the year.Those who visit the monument at the tip of Point Loma will take in tremendous views of the San Diego skyline, Coronado, and the bay.RELATED: Bill pushes to add San Diego's Chicano Park to National Park SystemWhile there, living history re-enactors will walk visitors back in time to the Age of Exploration. The glimpse shows how explorers traveled and the tools of their trade.Films are also shown covering Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the Point Loma lighthouse, and the ecosystem of the area. Inside the lighthouse, visitors can climb its narrow staircase to peek out from the top, learn about lighthouse lights, and how lighthouse keepers lived. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two men are dead after a shooting near a Mountain View park Sunday afternoon. Two black men, ages 33 and 37, were shot in the upper body, San Diego Police said. Both men died at the hospital.The shooting happened around 1:20 p.m. Sunday near South 40th Street and Ocean View Boulevard. Police said the victims were standing near the Mountain View Community Center when they were shot.The suspect is described as a black man wearing dark clothing.South 40th Street was closed between Teak Street and Hemlock Street while police investigated the crime.The circumstances leading up to the shooting are not known.Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 776
