THORNTON, Colorado – The three victims of Wednesday’s shooting at a Thornton Walmart were identified Thursday afternoon by the coroner’s office for Adams and Broomfield counties.They are 52-year-old Pamela Marques of Denver, 66-year-old Carlos Moreno of Thornton, and 26-year-old Victor Vasquez of Denver.Carlos Moreno was a structural trades technician at the Auraria Higher Education Center in Denver, the campus confirmed to Denver7 television station. Family members of Moreno’s also wrote on Facebook that he had been killed.“I am in shock,” wrote a niece of his. “Please keep his wife and kids in your prayers. This is such a great loss to our family.”His cousin wrote on Facebook: “Carlos was a good husband, father, grandfather, cousin, friend man. I am blessed to have had you in my life. Please pray for the family.”Victor Vasquez was a father of two young girls and had another child on the way, according to his fiancé and a GoFundMe page started by a family friend.His fiancé told Denver7 she was “completely distraught” by Vasquez’s death.Police arrested 47-year-old Scott Ostrem Thursday morning in connection to the shooting. There’s been talk of a “blue wave” heading into the midterm elections, with more Democrats energized and ready to vote. But just two weeks before the midterms, a new poll suggests the wave could be crashing.The lead in the election polls Democrats once had has fallen. In many of the battleground House or Representatives races, candidates from both parties are running almost even, according to a Washington Post poll.Another report finds Republicans are outpacing Democrats in early voting in key states, many of which are seeing record turnout.President Donald Trump outlined what he feels has sparked the turnaround.“This will be the election of the caravan, Kavanaugh, law and order, tax cuts and common sense,” Trump says.Even Democrats are downplaying the chances of a “blue wave.”“If the election were held today, the Democrats would handily win the House,” Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, says. “I can only speak in the present tense because you never know in a couple of weeks.”The president just announced he'll hold at least another ten rallies before the midterms, meaning he will have spoken at more than 30 rallies in the final five weeks of the campaign.President Barack Obama is also on the road, campaigning for Democrats.“The consequences of anybody here not turning out and doing everything you can to get your friends neighbor's family to turn out, the consequences of you staying home would be profoundly dangerous to this country and to our democracy,” Obama said during a recent rally.In these final couple weeks, both parties are having rallies across the country to motivate their base and to see which party can convince more of their voters to turnout. 1733

Travis Reinking was arrested and charged with four counts of criminal homicide in the Waffle House mass shooting in Tennessee. His bond was set for million, but many were outraged by the fact that he was even given a bond.According to Nashville attorney David Raybin, under Tennessee law, every criminal suspect, except those in death penalty cases, are entitled to a bond.Prosecutors could still decide to seek the death penalty against Reinking, but that decision is a long way off from being made.It is possible that someone either Reinking or his family could post the 10 percent or 0,000 with a bonding company and he could walk out of jail.However, Raybin made it clear there is no way Reinking will get out on bond.In the unlikely event the suspect makes bond, then several things could and would happen. The district attorney could immediately request a hearing to increase the bond to or million.The district attorney could also ask the judge to put very onerous conditions on the bond such as house arrest, an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet, 24-hour supervision, etc.More Stories:  1162

Thomson Reuters is eliminating 12 percent of its global workforce.The media company is drastically shrinking its staff, cutting 3,200 jobs and closing 55 offices by 2020. Reuters says it will employ roughly 23,800 people — down from its current workforce of 27,000.Reuters revealed its plans for the future at its annual investor day in Toronto. The stock is up 3 percent on the news."Thomson Reuters is routinely looking at ways to run our global business operations more efficiently and effectively," a Reuters spokesman told CNN Business."This disciplined approach sometimes includes the need to make personnel, or other, changes which allow us to balance our internal resources with the needs of our customers in a highly competitive environment."The company said a "majority" of the impacted employees have been notified, but it declined to say which divisions are affected.Part of Reuters' plans includes reducing its capital expenditures by 3 percent and cutting the number of products it sells. The company sells a newswire service, financial software, images and services for the legal industry.In October, Reuters sold a majority stake of its Financial and Risk unit to the private equity firm Blackstone Group for billion. Reuters joins other media companies in recently announcing layoffs.
