WILMINGTON, Del. – President-elect Joe Biden received his initial dose of the coronavirus vaccine on Monday.Biden received his Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at ChristianaCare Hospital and it was administered by Tabe Mase, a nurse practitioner and head of employee health services at the hospital. With his wife, Jill, by his side, Biden received the vaccination in front of cameras as part of a growing effort to show Americans that the vaccines are safe and necessary for the nation to emerge from the pandemic.Watch Biden get vaccinated below:After he received his dose of the vaccine, Biden said his wife received her vaccination earlier in the day.“I’m doing this to demonstrate that people should be prepared when it’s available to take the vaccine. There’s nothing to worry about. I’m looking forward to the second shot and so is Jill. She’s had her shot earlier today,” said Biden.Biden said the Trump administration deserves some credit for getting the vaccine production off the ground with Operation Warp Speed. The former vice president went on to urge the public to continue taking the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, because we’re still in the middle of a surge in cases. He also mentioned Moderna in his remarks, which began distributing its COVID-19 vaccine on Monday.“It’s worth stating that this is just the beginning,” said Biden. “It’s one thing to get the vaccine out. And now Moderna is going to be on the road as well, but it’s going to take time. In the meantime, I know I don’t want to sound like a sour note here, but I hope people listen to all the experts, who are talking about the need to wear masks during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, social distance, and if you don’t have to travel, don’t travel, because we’re still in the thick of this.”Biden joins a growing list of lawmakers who have now received their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Vice President Mike Pence, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell were among those were given doses Friday.President Donald Trump hasn't yet received the vaccine or said when he intends to. 2137

When’s the last time you checked your credit report? A new report by CreditCards.com found nearly half of adults haven’t checked their credit report in the last 6 months. It’s been 6 months since the massive Equifax breach where millions of people’s personal information was leaked. CreditCards.com found out nearly half of us haven’t checked out credit report since then to find out if we were one of the victims. Matt Schulz with CreditCards.com says, "Frankly that’s disturbing."Schulz says, “This was an enormous deal. Key personal information like social security numbers were compromised for nearly 150 million people.”Once your personal information is compromised, it’s out there for good. 74% of you said that having your personal data stolen would be worse than having your cell phone stolen.Schulz recommends you check your credit report once a month. “We don’t think about checking Instagram or Facebook 10x a day but, it seems way too much to ask to go to your bank website or check your credit report on a regular basis.”Now more than ever it’s easy to check your credit report.Schulz says, “A credit report will show you if somebody in particular has opened an account under your name without you knowing about it. And that is potentially one of the most damaging things someone can do.”You can get your vantage score, credit score and free Transunion credit report at places like CreditCards.com"Remember, the last thing you want is for your credit score to be dinged by mistakes that aren’t your own.” 1529

When you think of police officers, you may think of the badge or the local precinct may come to mind, but a lasso?“You got to have a lasso in a small town,” Sgt. Jace Peterson said with a laugh.Sgt. Peterson says it is an item he never leaves home without. Home is Nephi, Utah and it has been most of his life.“Oh, I was a good kid who got in very little trouble,” Peterson said.Nephi is a "blink and you miss it" stop along Interstate-15 between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas.Sgt. Peterson is just one of 10 full-time officers.“I just patrol all the corners of town, backstreets and the main thoroughfares,” he said.A disorderly conduct call sometimes comes in the form of a farm animal.“We’ve had cows and goats,” Peterson said. “I mean you name it and they run loose around here.”Sgt. Peterson knows he is just one call away from a surprise class reunion.“It makes it entertaining when you stop somebody you know or you’re on a call with somebody you went to high school with,” he said.Life moves at a slower pace in these parts. It is a stark contrast from what officers in major cities across the country are dealing with.“The rioting and the protest,” Sgt. Peterson said slowly shaking his head. “I mean, it starts to wear on you a little bit and know that other officers aren’t as lucky as we are.”The Nephi Chief of Police echoes those sentiments.“You know, the great thing is I had the big city policing experience when I was young,” said Chief Mike Morgan. “When I was young, I could get out and do the things that needed to get done and I was able to learn; that experience brought me here.”Like Peterson, Chief Morgan has come home.“There’s no place like home,” Chief Morgan said with a chuckle. The move from big city life means big changes.“There are no protests at all down here,” Chief Morgan said. The department is prepared for the day some of the bigger city issues may creep into town.“We’ve got all the equipment I could ever ask for and it’s such a great community,” Sgt. Peterson said.Even a worldwide pandemic is not affecting the small-town police force much.“I mean, we know it’s there and we know it’s just one bad day away, but until then, we’re just going to sort of enjoy it,” Sgt. Peterson said. 2231

Wildlife biologists with the Conservancy of Southwest Florida shared a shocking python find in Collier-Seminole State Forest on Thursday. An invasive Burmese python's eyes were a little bigger than its stomach when it decided to devour a white-tailed deer fawn. Officials say pythons have been known to kill and ingest large prey and this was a record breaking meal.  Officials stumbled upon the python with the massive prey inside. The biologists removed the python out of the wild into an open area and the python was stressed so it pushed the deer out of its mouth. In the photo below you can see the breathing tube and tongue of the python as it has its mouth wrapped around the deer. Biologists believe it is the largest python-to-prey ratio documented. The python was 31.5 pounds and the deer was 35 pounds; 111% of the python's mass. The findings will be published in the March 2018 issue of the Herpetological Review.“This observation is another important piece of evidence for the negative impact invasive Burmese pythons are having on native wildlife across the Greater Everglades Ecosystem” said Ian Bartoszek, Conservancy of Southwest Florida wildlife biologist. “Imagine the potential consequences to the state and federally protected Florida panther if Burmese pythons adversely affect the number of white-tailed deer, a panther’s primary prey.”Biologists are focused on the impact the python is having across the food chain. Since 2013, the Conservancy and its research partners have been conducting research to document the invasive Burmese python's biology and behavior in Collier County, including the tracking, removal and necropsy of captured pythons.Kelly Bazzle is the Digital Executive Producer at Scripps Station WFTS.
