A 24-year-old man assaulted an officer, stole his gun and turned the firearm on himself at Brandywine Country Club Wednesday morning, Summit County Sheriff's Office said.Police responded at around 5:19 a.m. to the Brandywine Country Club for reports of damaged property. Brandywine is located in Peninsula, which is midway between Cleveland and Akron.When the responding officer arrived, he found a 24-year-old man on the property. During their encounter, the man assaulted the officer, striking him in the head and knocking him to the ground.As the officer laid semi-conscious on the ground, the man removed the officer's service weapon from his holster. An employee at the golf course went to assist the officer as the man who struck him fled on foot.A short time later, the officer and the employee heard a shot fired in the distance.Several officers arrived on scene to conduct a perimeter check of the property. The man was found lying on the golf course with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, the sheriff's office reports.He was taken to Akron City Hospital-Summa Health, where he was later pronounced dead.The assaulted officer was treated and released from the hospital.The shooting remains under investigation. 1252

The men then demanded Susini return a ,000 deposit but he refused.WABC reported the men then held Susini against his will in a hotel room. They demanded ransom from Susini’s business partners, who called police.The men turned themselves in at 4 a.m, according to WABC.Susini is a player in independent baseball leagues. (KGTV) — Southern California police say they've arrested two people and seized 0,000 in electronics and gift cards in connection to a nationwide phone scam investigation.Fontana Police have arrested Ailing Lu, 25, of Los Angeles and Ji Hyun Lee, 25, of Gardena, over the scam they believe has affected hundreds of victims around the country.Investigators say a victim reported a cold call on Sept. 4 of a scammer impersonating an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) official. The scammer threatened to arrest the victim if they didn't pay them ,200 in Target gift cards.The victim eventually provided the gift cards to the caller and later reported the incident to police.Police tracked the redemption of the gift cards to a Los Angeles Target location, where they investigated surveillance videos of the transactions. Target reported a similar incident from Indiana University Police and investigators compared the two case videos and transactions. Police say they had enough evidence to identify and arrest Lu and Lee after they conducted surveillance on suspected locations and vehicles in Los Angeles.Police served search warrants on two locations as well, discovering about 0,000 in things like gaming systems and computer devices, gift cards, and gift cards from victims.Fontana Police warned the public to contact law enforcement if they receive a similar call and threatening requests.
