SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Even the MCAS Miramar Airshow, one the county's largest single day events, couldn't escape the impact of COVID-19.As the fight with the pandemic continues resulting in the cancellation of numerous activities and events in San Diego, producers of the MCAS Miramar Airshow set out to bring fans the exciting visuals from everyone's favorite military and civilian performers. The Marine Corps Community Services and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar created a special one-hour show titled, "2020 Vision – a Miramar Airshow production."The show features interviews with local civilian and military leaders, and performers who share their experiences about participating in the event. "We capture our airshow tradition's exciting spirit with new storytelling that brings you a side of these aviators that you would otherwise not get at the full airshow," said Capt. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A car carrier truck slammed into a hydrant Tuesday evening in Pacific Beach, sending a geyser spewing into the air as passersby took in the spectacle.The incident happened on the 2700 block of Garnet Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Authorities say the driver hit the hydrant before immediately pulling over and remaining at the scene.San Diego Fire-Rescue arrived to stop the hydrant from shooting water onto nearby businesses.Many nearby businesses closed for the day as San Diego Police and San Diego Fire-Rescue went door-to-door to find out what, if any damage had been done.At this time, it's unclear what led to the crash. 649

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A group of local doctors slammed San Diego's Board of Supervisors for not denouncing reported intimidation of the county's public health officer.The San Diego County Medical Society issued a statement, saying they are, "extremely disappointed by the failure of the Members of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to stand up against the personal abuse, attempted intimidation and doxing of our County Public Health Officer, Dr. Wilma Wooten."SDCMS pointed specifically to public testimony at the BOS' hearing on Tuesday, during which a caller revealed Wooten's address. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A brief pursuit involving a stolen BMW ended Wednesday morning near a nursing home parking lot.The incident began shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday when a new model BMW was reported stolen in Santee.Two hours later, San Diego police spotted the BMW traveling westbound on state Route 94 near the Euclid Avenue exit.When officers attempted to stop the car, the driver refused to pull over and sped away. With police in pursuit, the BMW made its way onto northbound Interstate 805, then transitioned to Interstate 15.The driver exited on Adams Avenue, crashed into a wall, and then got back on northbound I-15.After exiting Camino Del Rio South, police said the driver parked the stolen BMW in a nursing home parking lot in Mission Valley and ran away. Police found him a few blocks away and arrested him.The driver's name and the charges he faces were not immediately confirmed. 901

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A false alarm prompted a brief evacuation at San Diego International Airport Saturday afternoon.Travelers were evacuated just before 1:30 p.m., with photos on social media showing travelers gathering outside Terminal 1 and on the tarmac outside Terminal 1 gates.Video showed a fire alarm sounding through Terminal 1 directing travelers to the closest exit.San Diego airport officials said a fire alarm did sound, however, it was a false alarm — though sure to irritate a few travelers at least.RELATED: 10News Flight TrackerNo injuries were reported.
