BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Public Security announced a national action against human trafficking of women and children here Thursday, in wake of increasing incidences of these cases in China.     "The country has seen an increasing incidence of human trafficking of women and children recently, though the police have continued fighting such crimes for years," said Zhang Xinfeng, vice minister of public security at a meeting.     The nationwide crackdown will last from April to December this year, he said.     Police must carefully investigate residents to identify women and children victims and rescue them, he said.     They were also asked to collect information about possible victims and tightly follow leads, he said.     The police will also crack down upon those who seduce or force children to beg on streets or commit crimes, especially those masterminding such gangs, he added.

MOSCOW, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Russia and China "have similar positions" on the reform of the international financial system, Russian presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich said Monday.     Both Russia and China have voiced support for the notion of a "supra-national reserve currency," and the two countries have held discussion over the issue, Dvorkovich told reporters at a briefing.     "Indeed, we have similar positions," Dvorkovich said, adding the G20 London summit may initiate broad consultation over the issue.     The applicability of a supra-national reserve currency in the international balance and trade can be taken into consideration in the short term, said Dvorkovich, who added there is yet no serious discussion about using the currency in the cash flow.     The presidential aide also said Russian Ruble and Chinese Yuan should be included in the basket of the IMF's Special Drawing Rights (SDRs).     When speaking of the upcoming meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on the sidelines of the London summit, Dvorkovich noted it revealed the significance of bilateral ties for both countries.     Sharing a profound prospect for further cooperation, Russia and China have huge potentials for cooperation in the fields like energy, industry, service and cultural exchanges, he added.     Dvorkovich told Xinhua that having great potential for cooperation, BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) share "similar interests" on the assurance of the world's stable economic growth and the reconstructure of the international financial supervision system.     BRIC will continue to play a bigger role in the future global economic and financial system, he said.     Yet the four countries will not issue a joint statement alone at the G20 summit, since only one comprehensive statement, indicating all parties' agreed stance, will be passed at the summit, he added.

BEIJING, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for beefing up efforts to further push forward peaceful development of relations between the mainland and Taiwan.     A meeting on Taiwan work, held from Friday through Saturday, pointed out that major breakthrough had been made in development of relations across the Taiwan Straits in 2008.     The meeting urged doing solid job to further push forward development of cross-Straits relations and the process of cross-Straits consultations, continuing the progressive method of easy things first, difficult things later; and economic affairs first, political affairs later.     It urged consolidating the political bases that the two sides both oppose "Taiwan independence" and adhere to the "1992 Consensus", to maintain the momentum of the improving cross-Straits relations.     It urged vigorously beefing up economic exchanges and cooperation, fully realizing direct transport, postal and trade links, striving for normalization of economic relations and working for institutionalizing economic cooperation.     It orders taking effective measures to help Taiwan businesses on the mainland to overcome difficulties, implementing a series of policies that benefit Taiwan compatriots, beefing up cooperation in dealing with the international financial crisis.     It also urged vigorously pushing forward all-round exchanges, with emphasis on promoting cultural and educational exchanges and involving more Taiwan people in cross-Straits exchanges.     Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting and made a speech. Jia, who is also Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, urged following the guidelines put forward by CPC Central Committee General Secretary Hu Jintao on Taiwan work.     The meeting was presided over by State Councilor Dai Bingguo. BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said here Friday that the "good situation" in today's Tibet was "hard-earned and should be highly cherished."     Hu said during his visit to an exhibition marking the 50th Anniversary of Democratic Reform in Tibet, at the Cultural Palace of Nationalities in Beijing, that the reform 50 years ago was "the most extensive, profound and progressive social transformation in the history of Tibet."     All the nine members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee visited the exhibition, including top legislator Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao, and top political advisor Jia Qinglin. It also includes photos about Tibetan people's lives today.     When visiting the exhibition, Hu stressed that, only by staying in the big family of the motherland under the leadership of the CPC, can the economy and society of Tibet develop by leaps and bounds, and the people of Tibet be the owner of the country together with other Chinese ethnics.     Tibet should speed up economic development and further improve the living standards of people living there, especially the peasants and herdsmen, Hu said.     Hu also said that Tibet should move from being "basically stable" to "peaceful and stable in the long run."     The exhibition, co-organized by the State Council Information Office, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Tibet Autonomous Region, has attracted about 137,000 visitors since its opening.
