Hurricane Hunters have been flying in and out of Hurricane Delta continuously for days, getting a close-up look as the hurricane has re- intensified.Delta regained some of its previous fury. The hurricane, which was once a Category 4 before striking Mexico, dropped to a Category 1 on Wednesday. As the storm is set to strike the Louisiana coast on Friday, Delta has re-intensified into a Category 3 hurricane with top winds of 115 mph.As of Thursday evening, the hunters found that Delta had a 30-mile wide eye. Getting such detailed data from inside the hurricane can give forecasters a sense of the impact a hurricane will produce.There are two Air Force Reserve groups that fly into hurricanes to send back data to the National Hurricane Center.In total, the Air Force Reserve utilizes 20 WC-130J aircraft that are equipped with palletized meteorological data-gathering instruments.According to the Hurricane Hunters, “The navigator keeps track of the aircraft's position and movement and monitors radar to avoid tornadic activity. The flight meteorologist acts as flight director and observes and records meteorological data at flight level using a computer that encodes weather data every 30 seconds. The weather reconnaissance loadmaster collects and records vertical meteorological data using a parachute-borne sensor known as a dropsonde. If you're interested in fish who are scary-looking, poisonous and chock-full of elaborate defense mechanisms, look no further than the stonefish, a genus of fish that populate coastal waters of the Indo-Pacific region.As if their deadly venom and spiny exteriors weren't enough, scientists at the University of Kansas have found that stonefish also have a hidden switchblade on their face that they can flick out whenever they feel like they're in danger.Scientists call the bony, blade-like protrusion a "lachrymal saber," because it is located on a bone under the fish's eyes. Also, "lachrymal saber" is just a really metal-sounding name.William Leo Smith, associate curator and associate professor of ecology & evolutionary biology at KU, first started to understand how the lachrymal saber worked 15 years ago, when he was dissecting a stonefish he kept as a pet.This is a game-changerHe tells CNN the mechanism isn't just a cool new discovery (although it's that, too). It also changes the scientific understandings and classifications of this particular type of fish."It opens up these ideas of ecological questions. Muscular systems, bone systems, nervous systems all came together to form this. Though some stonefish are venomous, the saber is not.It could be a sex thing, tooSmith says he and his fellow researchers have reason to believe the saber isn't just for warding off predators: It could be a sex thing, too."There is evidence pushing towards that," he says. "They may use this in battles with other members of their species, like ram horns. It may also be involved in courtship behaviors."Oh, and the sabers glow."It's fluorescent green," Smith says. And those behind popular how-to videos are making big bucks.For Greg Wickherst, he began his channel to help other dads struggling just like him.   "When I got custody of my daughter, I didn't know how to do her hair,” he says. “I couldn't even do a ponytail, and I didn't want to have her going to school looking like a ragamuffin."  Wickherst’s first few videos went viral and he quickly became known as “The Hair Dad.”But it's not just hair tutorials, YouTube is the go-to platform for people to learn how to do stuff. IMPERIAL BEACH (KGTV) - A man was arrested Saturday in Imperial Beach after residents say he rushed into a home and wrecked their bathroom, leaving blood everywhere. Resident Miguel Ledesma said their front door was open to let in the breeze, "I heard some noise behind me and I turned around and the door was wide open, so I saw him rush through." The man was mumbling about being chased. Ledesma said the man backed up, tripping over the Christmas tree, knocking it over in the process, and went into the bathroom. Ledesma said that's when his brother shut the door to protect the family."There were screams, the lady who lives in there she was screaming pretty loudly," Neighbor Matthew Rodriguez said."We started hearing all these noises, all the breaking, the mirror, the shower curtain, everything in there is destroyed, there's bloody pretty much," Ledesma said. Officers finally removed the man, handcuffing him. The man was later loaded into an ambulance.He had visible cuts on his neck and arms, and a bandage around his head. Ledesma said he came in without a scratch and left bloody."It was pretty scary because we didn't know what he was going to do before the cops showed up," Rodriguez said."We're all okay, he didn't take anything, he just destroyed the bathroom pretty much," Ledesma said.
