SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday ordered a statewide "limited Stay at Home Order" for San Diego County and other counties in the state's COVID-19 purple tier.In a release on the governor’s website, the state’s curfew will take effect Saturday, Nov. 21. It will be from 10 p.m.-5 a.m.The curfew is set to expire on Dec. 21 at 5 a.m.The state said the restrictions are similar to the stay at home order issued in March. This time, however, the order only applies to counties in California's purple tier status under its COVID-19 reopening plan.Newsom said, “The virus is spreading at a pace we haven’t seen since the start of this pandemic and the next several days and weeks will be critical to stop the surge. We are sounding the alarm. It is crucial that we act to decrease transmission and slow hospitalizations before the death count surges. We’ve done it before and we must do it again."San Diego County Supervisor Greg Cox, in response to the statewide curfew, said, "Look, we know we all want to see this pandemic end. And believe me, we do too. But those who float the public health orders, those who refuse to use masks and facial coverings are just prolonging the misery."“Bottom line is, wear those damn masks out there. Socially distance. And the sooner we do that, the sooner we’re going to get through this crisis,” said San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore.Gore says they are devoting four two-men deputy teams to work full time with county compliance officers. He says they are not going door-to-door but following up on complaints about businesses or entities violating public health orders. They will attempt voluntary compliance and education first. If that doesn't work, it could lead to citations. He says when it comes to enforcement, they want to work with local jurisdictions and police departments, but they will serve citations with or without their help."If they're not going to join with us in enforcement action, if that becomes necessary, we will issue those citations by ourselves without their assistance," Gore said.Since Monday, the county has issued 52 cease-and-desist orders for businesses not in compliance.Last week, California, Washington, and Oregon issued travel advisories that urge visitors from out-of-state or residents returning home from outside travel to self-quarantine for 14 days. 2351

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Green Flash Brewery has been sold to a new investment group, continuing a turbulent start to the year for the San Diego-based brewery. The company announced Monday the finalized sale to the group made up of "individuals with extensive experience" in craft beer and food and beverage industries. In a letter to shareholders published on The Full Pint, CEO Mike Hinkley said the company's lender, Comerica Bank, had "foreclosed on its loans and sold the assets of the company ... to WC IPA LLC."RELATED: National City adopts 'craft beer ordinance' to attract breweriesGreen Flash had reportedly taken on a loan for the development of a Virginia Beach, Va., brewery, which has also closed."As such, the Company no longer owns the Green Flash and Alpine businesses. Comerica Bank is currently conducting a separate process to sell the Virginia Beach brewery," the letter continued. The Virginia brewery closing followed that of Green Flash's Poway barrel-aging facility, Cellar 3, also closing this year. The brewery's plans for a brewhouse in Lincoln, Neb., in April have not been changed.RELATED: "Brewchive" preserves history of San Diego craft brewing industryFrom a local standpoint, Hinkley told 10News, "the entities behind the scene are different, the businesses up front are exactly the same."Green Flash said it will focus on shipping its beers to customers in California, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Texas, Utah, and Nebraska. The Green Flash and Alpine Beer Company brands, the latter of which was picked up by Green Flash in 2014, will continue."The Green Flash and Alpine breweries will continue to operate in San Diego and Alpine, respectively," a release by the brewery said.In the letter, Hinkley blamed a "general slowdown" in the craft beer industry and increased competition as causes of the sell-off. Earlier this year, the brewery cut its workforce by 15 percent but Hinkley told 10News the remaining 150 or so employees "will retain their jobs" in the wake of the sale.RELATED: Beer 101 with Stone Brewery in EscondidoThe brewery is bringing in new executive management, including Dave Mills, who most recently served as chief sales officer at Ballast Point Brewing Company. Hinkley says he no longer has an ownership stake in the company but will still lead the brewery following the sale, as former company president Chris Ross departs. 2458

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Fall events across San Diego County are transforming to comply with coronavirus guidelines and hoping to bring in much-needed business."We were thrilled to make Halloween Trail a reality because as you said there really isn't anything else to do this Halloween that's safe," Jaclyn Lash, VP of Marketing with the Padres, said.Last week the state discouraged traditional trick or treating or Halloween parties, hoping to stop the spread of the coronavirus.RELATED: San Diego attractions hosting Halloween events for all agesSan Diego County officials announced Wednesday we were two cases from slipping into the purple most restrictive tier.Businesses are finding ways to safely entertain this Fall and bring in some much-needed funds."As Belmont Park, as one of San Diego's iconic places, and pretty much the heart of mission beach and this area, to keep on doing these things and keeping the area alive," Daniela Bower, Senior Marketing Manager at Belmont Park, said.Harvest walk runs through Nov. 14 as an open-air market, with local food vendors and craft beer. You can go to their all-new go-kart track, watch street magic or go free trick or treating.RELATED: San Diego County discourages traditional trick-or-treating this HalloweenDowntown, Halloween Trail weaves through Petco Park, bringing joy to children and adults alike through Nov. 1, with themed booths, candy, and toys for kids."It's been so popular we really hope we can bring it back," Lash said. Also sold out on Saturday night, the Beach Boys concert at the Del Mar Fairgrounds where the Scream Zone will still run, but in a smaller capacity."It's good to see people out, it's good to feel like you're doing something at least somewhat normal," fan Michael Kolman said.
