CALEXICO, Calif. (KGTV) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than million worth of narcotics in a single vehicle stop this week.CBP says officers stopped a 55-year-old driver at about 4 a.m. at the Calexico Port of Entry and referred the driver to a secondary inspection, where an x-ray imaging system identified anomalies in the vehicle.A search of the vehicle turned up 20 packages of fentanyl weighing 48 pounds, and 121 packages of methamphetamine weighing 517 pounds hidden in the floor, gas tank, seats, and spare tire.The driver was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security officials. 628

"But, the rules are so simple on how to learn."Prior to the pandemic, i-Play created interactive games for kids."We have these floor projection games, table projection games, that are all interactive," Storey said.But seeing a need for more at-home entertainment, and noticing a gap in the golf game market, Storey and his team entered Shuffle Golf into Walmart's Open Call for U.S.-manufactured products.It's an effort by the retail giant to inject millions into America's small businesses. Shuffle Golf won distribution out of 5,000 submissions."The buyer recognized the concept is cool," Storey said. "It's different. It's a quality game. It's made in America. And, that's exactly what Walmart is doing today."The game uses a vibrant carpet mat, which allows for two-way putting, has various scoring sections around the green, and includes negative scores for sand and water hazards. And, you can knock your opponents' ball off the course."It's a great educational tool for math for young kids," Storey said. "And, parents now are having to teach their kids and home school and so forth."But, Storey said the game is great for all ages and all skill levels. And, it can get competitive.It's teeing up the fun, just in time for the holidays."Now, (families) have a new game to play, outside your Bocce Ball, or Monopoly, or all these different traditional games," Storey said. "It's a new game for families to engage in."Shuffle Golf is available through Walmart.com. CAPE CORAL, Fla. - It all started with a high school assignment.Megan O’Grady says she had to write about a topic that she felt passionate about in her life.As the daughter of a law enforcement officer who had recently learned of the deaths of five officers during a 2016 protest in Dallas, it wasn’t hard for her to share what she was feeling at the time.That paper would soon turn into a passion project and the nonprofit, Blue Line Bears.Four years later, the group has dispersed more than 700 teddy bears - sewn with the uniforms of fallen law enforcement officers and given to loved ones that have been left behind.“Taking that uniform shirt and making it into something that can be held and cuddled...it gives them comfort and a little bit of their loved one back,” the 18-year-old tells FOX 4.She says prior to this year, Blue Line Bears filled five to ten requests per week from agencies across the country.“Now, it can be up to like 20 or 30”.Megan’s father is Master Sergeant Patrick O’Grady with the Cape Coral Police Department.He says agencies from all over reach out to the group for bears.O’Grady says they also use the website Officer Down Memorial Page to keep track of impacted families.According to the site, there was 148 line of duty deaths in 2019.This year and at the time of this story, the website reports that the number is already 247.The site says most of those deaths are related to COVID-19 and gunfire.“At any time, we can have over 100 shirts waiting to be turned into bears,” O’Grady says.With an increase in demand comes the need for an increase in space.That’s why the nonprofit is now expanding to an official location in Cape Coral.Megan says the new space will serve as a place to hold meetings and a go-to location for the community to purchases merchandise.She says she's most excited that it will also provide a bigger workspace to prepare the keepsakes that bring support to many families.Because as Megan, now in her first year of college, says, “There’s always a lot of bears to be made.”The O'Gradys say the new location will be complete by the end of the year.The address for the new storefront is 3032 Santa Barbara Boulevard.Click here for more information about Blue Line Bears.This story was first reported by Shari Armstrong at WFTX in Fort Myers, Florida. 2315

CARLSBAD, Calif., (KGTV) — A steady stream of showers didn't stop San Diego shoppers from seeking bargains. Hundreds of people waited in line Thursday evening for the Black Friday event at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. Despite unfavorable conditions, many decided to shop because they did not want to break tradition. "We started doing it when I was in high school, and now I'm 26, so we've just gone every year with our mom," one woman told 10News. 10News crews got special access inside the new Adidas store during the sales event. Carlsbad Premium Outlet General Manager, Terri Mannes, said the retailer just finished their remodel, doubling in size just in time for the holiday shopping season. They came prepared. 10News saw several people wearing their pajamas for the ultimate comfortable shopping experience. Others brought their very own cart and rain gear. Cathedral High School in Indianapolis announced the official name change of its entrepreneurship course to the "Chris Beaty Entrepreneurship Class."Chris Beaty was an Indianapolis business owner and former Indiana University football player who was beloved in the community.Beaty was one of two men who were shot and killed when violence erupted during police brutality demonstrations in Downtown Indianapolis. He was 38."There was so much pain caused by Chris's tragic murder, I felt it was too narrow to hear him only referred to as a former Cathedral and IU football player," Alex Purvis, who played football with Beaty at Cathedral High School in the early 2000's, said. "Chris was so much more than that, and I want to do my part to make sure his legacy continues at Cathedral."Purvis spearheaded the initiative to make the name change of the private school's entrepreneur course because he wanted to make sure Beaty was known for more than just football. Purvis says Beaty was not only an entrepreneur but says he was a friend, he was compassionate, and he always made people feel welcomed."He made everyone feel like a VIP. Few people have that ability," Purvis said.Purvis only knew Beaty for one year at Cathedral — but that was enough for Beaty to make an impact on Purvis.Purvis described himself as, "the smallest kid on the football team" his sophomore year, and Beaty was a senior star-athlete."Years later, when I started running into Chris downtown and various events, Chris always made me feel like I was the star quarterback on Cathedral's team. For no other reason than that was his genuine personality—he made people feel special. His warmth and positivity was infectious," Purvis said.Purvis said to best #LiveLikeChris, it's fitting to name Cathedral's entrepreneurship class in Beaty's honor. Beaty was always working on "the next big thing," Purvis said."I think the root of entrepreneurship is having the ability to take an idea and outlining the steps to make it happen," Purvis said. "That's exactly what Chris did. He was a doer, a leader, and a builder—his friends turned into business partners and vice versa."Both Cathedral High School and Indiana University have also created the "Chris Beaty Foundation Scholarship," in his honor."Using that foundation and exploring entrepreneurship in high school will hopefully open students' eyes to all of the possibilities they have in college and beyond. Students should know they are capable of creating their path, just like Chris Beaty did," Purvis said. "And they should know that they, too, have what it takes to live like Chris.
