"I don't know what we're doing different from year to year."It's not just the near-record heat that is causing the increases due to higher air-conditioning use. SDG&E spokesperson Wes Jones said the utility instituted a state-mandated third usage tier for its highest users. Am I even on the right plan, what can I do?" Jones said.Jones said San Diegans can switch for free to a Time of Use plan, where energy is most expensive from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Then, they can plan ahead by setting the A/C lower before 4 p.m., turning it up when that time hits."You're going to experience some savings right there because your A/C is not running as hard from 4 to 9 but you're still using all that cooling you had during the day," he said.Jones said SDG&E is continuing to move all of its customers to the Time of Use plan. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are searching for a group of males targeting local Apple stores in the North County.Police said two Apple locations, one in Carlsbad and the other in Escondido, have been targeted in a series of grab and runs. During the incidents, police say the males generally enter in hoodies or jackets and grab multiple Apple devices on display tables before quickly exiting.Outside, a getaway vehicle is usually waiting, police added.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodThe thefts occurred at the Carlsbad location, 1923 Calle Barcelona in the Forum Carlsbad, on May 16, June 18, July 11, and July 13, and the Escondido store, at 272 E. Via Rancho Parkway at Westfield North County, on July 9.The suspects are described as African-American males in their early 20s, wearing hoodie sweatshirts or jackets with the hood portion tied closely to their heads. There may also be a female suspect involved, police said.Since January 2018, the incidents have resulted in more than 0,000 of losses. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police have arrested a man they say tried to sexually assault a woman in Little Italy before stealing her car. Police say the man, identified as Christopher Merron, 28, was arrested Monday on several charges, including assault with intent to commit a sex crime, brandishing a deadly weapon and auto theft. According to police, the incident happened on the 1700 block of India Street at 4:33 a.m. Sunday.RELATED: Man tries to sexually assault woman before stealing her car in Little Italy, police sayPolice say the man walked into Cafe Italia while the victim was cleaning. If you're a Comic-Con mega fan, patience is a vital part of the experience. Many slept on the grassy courtyard for hours, just to claim a seat inside the coveted Hall H. Fans say they can't get enough. "I've been a fan since the first season came out," Superfan, Marvin Calderon said. "I'm also a fan of the comic books."Calderon showed us his right arm. It is entirely covered with "The Walking Dead" themed tattoos, proving to us, his extreme loyalty to the show.Friday's panel featured the showrunner, Angela Kang, her executive producers, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert, and Greg Nicotero, as well as cast members Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Avi Nash, Cooper Andrews, Ryan Hurst, Nadia Hilker, Eleanor Matsuura, and Cailey Fleming. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Multiple former students of San Diego's Christian Youth Theater, known as CYT, are coming forward with stories of sexual assault, abuse and misconduct.On the phone Tuesday, the president of CYT confirmed that one of her own close family members claims that he was even abused when he was in CYT many years ago.On its Facebook page, the El Cajon-based theater group has acknowledged recent accusations of sex abuse from former students.Part of its statement reads, “We are deeply saddened to learn about statements that have recently been made on social media involving former CYT students, and we want you to know that we take these allegations very seriously…We have been working tirelessly on these issues with the authorities, outside consultants, staff, and the Board of Directors since they were brought to our attention…"San Diego attorney Jessica Pride said Tuesday that she's representing a former student who claims she was sexually abused starting in 2006. “The first time she was 13 and it continued until she was 15-years-old,” said Pride.The after-school theater arts training program was founded 40 years ago and is for students ranging from 4-years-old to 18-years-old. On its website, CYT writes that its grown to be the largest youth theater program in the nation with branches across the country, training thousands of students a year.Tuesday, CYT President Janie Russell Cox would not confirm the number of alleged victims or whether the accusations of abuse were between just students or students and teachers, but said claims have come from alumni- not current students.Cox confirmed that her close family member publicly posted on social media his own account of abuse from many years ago.
