RANCHO BERNARDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- For more than one month a North County coyote has been spotted with what looks like piping around her neck. Thanks to determined residents, she'll soon get the help she needs to get the piping off. RELATED: North County woman, neighbors trying to save coyote ensnared in plastic pipingTuesday night a rescue group sent a photo of the coyote, lovingly named "Myrtle," to 10News. Myrtle was first spotted sometime in April. Katie Ryan lives in the area and kept an eye on the animal's condition as she continued to pop up around the neighborhood. Side-by-side photos showed Myrtle had lost a dramatic amount of weight since she was first spotted - likely because of the piping around her neck. RELATED: Rancho Bernardo neighbor works to save mother coyote ensnared in pipingFor weeks Ryan and The Fund for Wildlife Animal Center worked to trap the coyote with no luck. Last week the animal center told 10News once Myrtle was caught they would have room for her, and experts ready to help. 1078

Price gouging continues to be a problem for Amazon shoppers, according to the U.S Public Interest Research Group (PIRG).A consumer watchdog says the price spikes are not based on normal supply and demand.“People are really struggling right now, and the last thing that they need to worry about is going to the store or going online and finding the products that they really need to keep themselves safe at ridiculous prices,” said Grace Brombach, a consumer watchdog associate with U.S. PIRG.U.S. PIRG found a wide range of products can cost two to 14 times more. For example, disinfecting wipes cost nearly on amazon, compared to about at other stores.They suggest making sure you know the average price and shopping around.As part of the HEROES Act, Congress passed price gouging legislation.Some states have bills to further define emergency products to fight price spikes. Still, U.S. PIRG expects this problem to continue.“We see situations like this come up in hurricanes and tornadoes, when people need to buy space heaters and electric lamps,” said Brombach. “And so, this will continue to be a problem going into the future if we don't address this issue now.”Early on in the pandemic, Amazon removed thousands of listings and third party sellers from its website for suspected price gouging.In August, Amazon said it was working to maintain its “fair pricing policy” while taking reasonable increases into account. 1439

RANCHO SANTA FE (CNS) - Authorities Friday were searching for a driver who fled after crashing a Ferrari into a power pole in Rancho Santa Fe, knocking out electricity to 84 customers in the area.The crash, involving a 2012 Ferrari, was reported shortly before 10:20 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Avenida de Acacias and La Granada, California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt said.The crash caused the 40-foot power pole to fall to the ground, leaving 84 San Diego Gas & Electric customers in the area in the dark, SDG&E spokesman Wes Jones said.As of 8:30 this morning, electricity had been restored to all but three customers, who were expected to be back on line by noon, Jones said.The northbound and southbound lanes of Avenida De Acacias were expected to be closed from La Granada to Via De La Cumbre until around 3 p.m. while crews worked to replace the power pole. 903
