SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- Residents at a University City apartment complex are upset after they claim property managers neglected to warn them about flooding in the parking garage. Now, about ten tenants say their cars are underwater-- most of them totaled. Natali Gonzalez misses her Toyota Camry. She never got to say goodbye."We walked out at around 11 am to retrieve our car, and to our surprise, it was flooded," Gonzalez said. Tuesday morning, Gonzalez walked into the La Jolla Crossroads parking garage to find her car and her neighbors' cars nearly floating.RELATED: UC San Diego students reeling from flooded dorms after storm"I couldn't even open the doors," she said. "The locks weren't working. I had to manually open it."Gonzalez says property management did notify residents three times about a water shut-off, but those warnings said nothing about flooding. At 9:31 am, notices Gonzalez showed us said they had experienced an "unforeseen emergency to the main water line," and that management would provide portable toilets. Five hours later, they said they would provide drinking and cooking water. But at 5:24pm, property management added that there was alternative parking available at a nearby structure — nothing else. "I know they know it was flooded because there were people down there," Gonzalez remembered. "They weren't allowing us to be down there. They said it was unsafe for us to be down there. So I know they were aware of it. But the emails didn't say anything."Gonzalez says not only were they not notified of the rising waters or the damage to her cars, but it also seemed like they were trying to hide it from them. But some of her neighbors don't, so they are down on their luck. She is hoping property management steps up to ensure this never happens again. The fact that they didn't notify us did bother me, and it would have been nice to receive some notification or some type of apology."10News contacted the La Jolla Crossroads multiple times. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The union representing more than 25,000 University of California service workers and medical technicians announced plans today for a three-day strike, citing what it calls stalled contract negotiations.Officials with AFSCME Local 3299 said last week that more than 97 percent of its members had voted to authorize a strike if no progress was made in negotiations. UC officials, however, said the union had rejected an offer of "fair, multi-year wage increases and excellent medical and retirement benefits."In light of the impasse, the university system imposed contract terms on the union for the 2017-18 fiscal year, including 2 percent pay increases.The UC's latest contract offer to the union had included annual 3 percent raises over the next four years, according to the university.The union on Thursday issued a 10-day notice of their intent to conduct a three-day strike, beginning May 7."We've bargained in good faith for over a year to address the widening income, racial and gender disparities that front-line, low-wageworkers at UC are living every day," AFSCME Local 3299 President Kathryn Lybarger said. "Instead of joining us in the effort to arrest these trends, UC has insisted on deepening them -- leaving workers no option but to strike."UC officials issued a statement saying they "strongly disagree with AFSCME's decision to strike, which will negatively impact patients, students and the UC community.""AFSCME service employees at UC -- including custodians, gardeners, food service workers and facilities maintenance staff -- are compensated at or above the market and in some cases, but as much as 17 percent higher than comparable jobs, according to the university. What the union demanded was a 6 percent annual wage increase, which we think unfair to other UC employees, bothrepresented and non-represented. This is twice what other UC employees have received."University officials said their final officer included, in addition to the pay raises, a lump-sum payment upon contract ratification, healthbenefits consistent with those of other workers and continuation of pension benefits for existing employees. The knock at the door came just past 6:30 p.m. Friday. Two men, their masks pulled below their mouths, were standing outside Anna's home near Southwestern College."Can I help you?" she is heard asking in her Ring doorbell video.Anna's question gets an odd reply."We're looking for the queen of the castle," said the man at the door.Moments later, the man at the door makes his pitch."We're going door to door doing COVID testing. Have you been tested?" he asks.Anna, an ICU social worker, sensed something shady."I work at a hospital. No, no, no. Goodbye!" she exclaimed in the video.Just 10 minutes prior, the man who was standing back in the video, was at the home of neighbor Alice Segobia with a different offer."He asked about new metering that was coming. Asked if I was the homeowner. I lied to get him out of the house, said I didn't own my home," said Segobia.Segobia also abruptly said goodbye, so she never found out what he was after. But minutes later, the other man's COVID-19 test offer is one James Lee of the Identity Theft Resource Center is familiar with. He points to reports of door-to-door COVID testing scams a month ago, especially in the Midwest.
