(KGTV) - Uber is expanding its role as a common ride-sharing platform into the healthcare sector in its release of "Uber Health," the company announced Thursday.Uber Health partners with healthcare organizations and is designed to provide rides for patients, caregivers, and staff. The primary aim is to serve patients, though, as access is available without a smartphone."Riders don’t need the Uber app, or even a smartphone, to get a ride with Uber Health because it’s all done through text message. We’re even going to be introducing the option for riders to receive a call with trip details to their mobile phone or landline instead," a release from the company said.Healthcare providers can schedule rides on clients' behalf, the passenger is contacted by text message with their trip details when the ride is booked and also when their driver arrives, and then the passenger is picked up and dropped off.If the passenger does not have a mobile phone, Uber said the healthcare company or caregiver can coordinate on their behalf.Uber said the service will hopefully cut down on the number of patients who miss doctor appointment due to transportation issues."Every year an estimated 3.6 million Americans miss their appointments due to a lack of reliable transportation. At Uber, we recognize that the path to health may not be easy, but we know the road to care can be," the company says.Organizations that partner with Uber Health will be given access to track billing, appointments, and schedule multiple follow-up appointments simultaneously. The company added their product will meet HIPAA standards.Uber plans to use drivers already in their established network to facilitate the service. 1736

A big question for Phoenix @abc15 tonight - is the President's visit on Tuesday worth it? Cases are spiking in Arizona and he'll be hosting a "Students for Trump" event inside a church. The President says he isn't worried at all. pic.twitter.com/EWKg2s3tbc— Joe St. George (@JoeStGeorge) June 22, 2020 337

(WXYZ) — A dramatic deer rescue caught on video shows officers in Michigan save a buck trapped in a net.Officers Thomas Goodrose and Justin Wells came face-to-face with a 10-point buck trapped in the net of a soccer goal at Bingham Farms Elementary on Monday morning.Noticing how panicked the deer was, the quick-thinking officers used a tool from their vehicle to help control the deer's legs while cutting netting that had started to close around the animal's neck. “Once he had it secure, we came up slow. Held the horn and heard it breathe and relax,” said Officer Thomas Goodrose with Franklin police. “It felt really good. You don’t come across this too much but it was really cool.”In the video, you can see the deer realize the netting is no longer attached, and run back into the wilderness. (KGTV) - The California Department of Motor Vehicles announced plans Monday to close for half a day in July to conduct employee customer service training. Operation Excellence: DMV Training will “equip employees with the tools they need to handle an unprecedented volume of REAL ID applications,” said DMV officials. Californians will be required to show a REAL ID-compliant license or identification card, or passport, to fly in the U.S. starting Oct. 1, 2020. RELATED: If you don't have a star on your license, flying will become more difficult for you in 2020“The unprecedented complexity of the REAL ID requirements is what led to the idea that we needed to take the extraordinary step of closing DMV offices for a short time to make sure all employees have consistent information in order to complete the transactions successfully,” said Government Operations Agency Secretary Marybel Batjer, who is leading the DMV Strike Team. “It is a complicated transaction and we want customers to be well prepared in order to receive their REAL ID efficiently.” Training sessions for more than 5,000 workers will take place at 183 DMV field offices, commercial drive test centers, and industry business centers statewide. “Our employees are at the heart of every transaction we perform,” said Kathleen Webb, DMV acting director. “With this commitment to training, we can ensure they have the proper tools, knowledge, and experience to provide excellent customer service to the people of California.” RELATED: California's REAL ID requirements now accepted by government“Field offices need to be prepared for at least a doubling of customer volume as the enforcement date approaches,” said DMV officials. The DMV offices will be closed the morning of July 24 and open for business at 1 p.m. DMV Call Centers will remain open during the closure. Customers will also be able to conduct business online. Operation Excellence is part of the DMV Reinvention Strike Team, created by Gov. Gavin Newsom to modernize the agency through transparency, speed, and customer satisfaction. 2076

(KGTV) — The Navy will not review three SEALs connected to the case involving Chief Edward Gallagher.Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly said Wednesday that he has directed the Chief of Naval Operations to "terminate" the Trident Review cases, which could have ultimately removed the SEALs from the elite force.Modly advised in part that any issues with the SEALs be dealt with through other "administrative measures."RELATED:Trump says Navy won’t remove Gallagher’s SEAL’s designationEsper says Trump ordered him to allow SEAL to keep statusPentagon chief fires Navy secretary over SEAL controversy“I have directed the Chief of Naval Operations to terminate the Trident Reviews for three Naval Special Warfare officers. Given the unique circumstances of these three remaining cases, I have determined that any failures in conduct, performance, judgment, or professionalism exhibited by these officers be addressed through other administrative measures as appropriate, such as letters of instruction or performance observations on their officer fitness reports," Modly wrote.Modly added that the decision to toss the cases should not be interpreted as "diminishing" of the Navy SEALs."Navy uniformed leaders have my full confidence that they will continue to address challenging cultural issues within the Naval Special Warfare community, instill good order and discipline, and enforce the very highest professional standards we expect from every member of that community. These are standards that scores of brave Sailors have given their lives to establish and preserve," Modly wrote. The three Navy SEALs were awaiting a Trident Review in connection with the case of Chief Edward Gallagher. The Navy had intended to hold a Trident Review of Gallagher after he was acquired of murdering a captured ISIS teen and firing at Iraqi civilians, but convicted of taking a photo next to the body. President Trump, though, reversed Gallagher's demotion before the Navy announced it would review the case.Gallagher's Trident Review never came. Defense Secretary Mark Esper allowed Gallagher to retire without the possibility of being removed from the SEALs — at the President's direction — shortly after firing then-Navy Secretary Richard Spencer over his handling of the case. 2281
