SORRENTO VALLEY (KGTV): An 11-year old volunteer is proving that age doesn't matter when it comes to helping the hungry.Aiden Gruby has been volunteering at Feeding San Diego since he was six. His parents brought him as part of a family activity. He was hooked immediately."I think it’s really great. I love that feeling of helping people," he says.He loved it so much that his family started coming every week. When Aiden turned 10, Feeding San Diego asked him to become a team leader.Typically, the organization waits until people are 13 before they can take a leadership role.As a leader, Aiden helps with orientation and rules. He also directs volunteers as they sort food."I’m just so proud of him wanting to give back to our community," says mom Janessa Gruby. "There are kids who would rather spend their weekend playing sports, or playing video games, and he has asked us to come every weekend."Aiden says his favorite part of the job is "reclamation," which is the process of checking all incoming food for package integrity, expiration date and then sorting it by category.He has no plans to slow down any time soon."I think it’s really good to help people in need of food," he says. SPRING HILL, Fla. -- A Florida mother was arrested on Wednesday after deputies say she left her 3-year-old son home alone while she went out drinking. Hernando County deputies responded a home in Spring Hill after receiving a tip that a child was at the home without supervision. Deputies attempted to contact the 3-year-old boy around 2 a.m. on Wednesday. When deputies arrived they saw Kristen Broker, 27, being dropped off at the home. The deputy asked Broker if she knew the child. Broker told the deputy that he was her son. The deputy then asked if she knew whether or not the child was in the home alone.Deputies say that Broker told them that she knew the child was home alone. She told them that he was sleeping inside.Deputies found the young boy awake inside the home. He was in a queen sized bed with no guardrails, according to HCSO. "[The boy] appeared to be scared as to where his mother was," HCSO wrote in a press release.Deputies say that the only other adult who lives at the home was Broker's boyfriend, who was at work.Broker told deputies that she was at a local bar. Deputies say she appeared to be extremely intoxicated. She told deputies that she had been drinking since 1 p.m. on Tuesday, according to HCSO.Broker said she had consumed some rum and cokes and some beers, according to HCSO. Deputies say that she claimed she was only gone for "30 minutes," and that her son was asleep when she left.The child was clearly awake when deputies arrived at the home.Deputies say that Broker appeared almostBroker didn't appear to think it was an issue to leave her child home for any amount of time, according to the arrest affidavit.Broker was arrested on one count of child neglect, booked into the Hernando County Jail under a ,000 bond. Special counsel Robert Mueller has told President Donald Trump's lawyers that the President is not currently being considered a criminal target of the Russia probe, The Washington Post reported Tuesday, citing three people familiar with the discussions.The special counsel's team is compiling a report on Trump's actions as President and any potential obstruction of justice -- which Mueller has also told Trump's lawyers, two people with knowledge of the conversations told the Post.The report notes?that Mueller continues to seek an interview with Trump himself. CNN reported Friday that attorneys for both sides sat down for an in-person meeting on topics that investigators could ask the President about, according to two sources familiar with the talks.CNN reported in January?that Mueller's team had given the President's lawyers general topics for an interview, such as Trump's request that then-FBI director James Comey drop the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, his reaction to Comey's May 2017 testimony on Capitol Hill and Trump's contact with intelligence officials about the Russia investigation.Mueller's team is investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election and has been looking into any potential ties between Russia and Trump campaign associates. Social media and blog posts are being used by children's hospitals to help educate parents and the community about MIS-C, the inflammatory syndrome linked to the coronavirus.Dr. Negar Ashouri is a pediatric infectious disease specialist. It's her job to take care of kids who have severe infections. At Children's Hospital Of Orange County in Southern California, she's the one they call when things are significant, or out of the ordinary.“We are seeing a lot of kids that come in with prolonged fevers and elevated inflammatory markers there was a time when everyone was social distancing and staying at home that the census was low and we weren’t seeing the usual run of the mill infections.” Ashouri said.Now that things have "opened up" in California, as they have in many states across the nation, they're seeing more sick kids. And they're watching, testing and screening a lot of them.“MIS-C is a multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children that has been temporarily associated with the coronavirus outbreak and these kids tend to be sicker kids with significant inflammatory processes going on,” Ashouri said.The symptoms are persistent fevers, severe stomach pains, trouble breathing, chest pain and rashes. As kids get sick, they often have symptoms even if they're less severe. So, how do you typify and discern whether it's related to the coronavirus?“That’s something that we grapple with as well here because kids gets fevers and rashes and it’s common and not every rash and every fever will be coronavirus and not every rash or fever will be MIS-C for sure,” Ashouri said.They focus on the science and data, blood work, extensive evaluations, and screenings.“There’s a lot of information out there and you have to be careful about what you take in and listen to- kids are going to get fevers, they’re going to get rashes, not every rash and fever is going to be related to COVID,” Ashouri said.Which is why they're putting out as much information as they can. It illicits some sort of immune response, and you don't have to test positive for the virus at the time. It's likely from a prior COVID-19 infection, which then manifests into MIS-C. While most kids are doing well and have mild cases, if your child gets sick, it's important to see a doctor.“Kids who have the MIS-C are generally pretty sick and it’s important for them to be taken care of in a facility like CHOC - a children’s hospital where you have a multi-disciplinary group of people,” Ashouri said. 3022

SPRING VALLEY (CNS) - A 61-year-old man shot a female relative in the leg during an argument Sunday afternoon in Spring Valley.The woman, whose identity was withheld, was struck in the left leg just before 4 p.m. at 1605 Presioca St., said San Diego County sheriff Sgt. Elizabeth Montoya.Danny Goodman was detained by deputies for the shooting and a weapon was recovered at the scene, a sergeant said. The relationship of the two was not immediately explained.The woman was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment. Goodman was also taken to a hospital after complaining of shortness of breath, Montoya said. 621
