BRISBANE, Australia, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang said here Saturday that China and Australia can lift their bilateral relationship to a new level through a strengthened dialogue and increased cooperation between the two trading partners.     Li spoke during a meeting with Anna Bligh, the premier of Australia's state of Queensland.     The vice premier said that during his visit to Australia a consensus was reached to enhance the Chinese-Australian friendship, to deepen mutual beneficial cooperation, and to respect and care for each other's core interests and important concerns.     He also said the two sides released a joint declaration and signed a number of cooperation agreements. SEOUL, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping put forward a four-point plan to cement China-South Korea ties when he met South Korean Prime Minister Chung Un Chan here on Thursday.     Xi said China and the South Korea were neighbors and the relationship had been promoted since they established diplomatic ties in 1992. The exchanges of the visits by the two heads of states last year upgraded the relations to strategic and cooperative partnership, which benefited both countries and helped promote regional peace, stability and prosperity.     Xi's proposal to foster the Sino-ROK relationship was:     -- To enhance high-level contact and political trust:     The two countries should also increase exchanges between the governments, parliaments and parties. China appreciated the adherence by South Korea to the one-China policy and its support on the Taiwan and Tibet issues, Xi said.     -- To expand trade and economic cooperation:     The two countries should explore new ways on high-tech, energy-saving, and environmental protection cooperation. Xi called on the two sides to complete joint research and initiate free trade agreement negotiation.     -- To increase personnel exchanges:     The two sides should further improve exchanges on education, culture and tourism and properly handle the issues concerning the sentiments of the two peoples.     -- And, to strengthen coordination in multilateral frameworks, including the meeting mechanism of China, South Korea and Japan:     On the situation on the Korean Peninsula, Xi said all relevant sides should take the chance to show flexibility to resume the six-party talks at an early date.     Xi also said China would push for the Copenhagen climate change conference to achieve a result in line with the "Bali Roadmap."     Chung Un Chan pledged to complete the joint research on free trade agreement as soon as possible, and advance coordination with China under the G20 and the framework of China, Japan and South Korea.     Xi arrived here Wednesday night after a visit in Japan. He will also visit Myanmar and Cambodia.

CAIRO, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Saturday met Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa and expressed China's willingness to further its cooperation with the Arab countries by enriching the contents of the China-Arab friendly cooperation. The Chinese premier met the Arab League secretary general at the league's headquarters in Cairo.     "Under the current international political and economic circumstances which are undergoing profound and complicated changes, it is in the interests of both China and the Arab countries to strengthen cooperation which contributes toward world peace, stability and development," the Chinese premier said.     Wen told Musa that China is willing to pool efforts with the Arab League and Arab countries to render the China-Arab Cooperation Forum into a more effective platform which will result in more progress. ROME, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- China's experience in eradicating hunger can be learned by other developing countries, the president of the UN International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) said on Tuesday.     Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the World Summit on Food Security, Kanayo Nwanze said China has done a lot both in increasing national funds for agriculture and in supporting other developing countries through strategic rural investments.     "I have seen firsthand progress," he said. "China was able in 30 years, from 1978 to 2007, to reduce rural poverty from 30 percent to 1.6 percent through massive investments in rural development and rural areas, focusing on women, right policies andl and access."     For Nwanze China can be a role-model for other developing countries.     "Through her own experience China is able to collaborate with others in bringing its knowledge and technology to other parts of the world," he said.     However, "it is then the recipient country's responsibility to ensure that these experiences are properly used," he added.     "China's partnership with developing countries, in particular Africa, is able to assist these countries but it is imperative that the developing countries have themselves the right policies to ensure that the investments reach the rural population," Nwanze said.

BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- China-U.S. relationship that by large was entering a period where our focus would be more and more on global issues, said U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman on Friday.     Huntsman made the remarks at the Forum for America/China Exchange at Stanford (FACES) in Peking University, a top university in China.     "Obama arrived and found what he had hoped for," he said relating to the U.S. President's just concluded China visit after reviewing the bilateral link chronicle.     U.S. and China could strengthen cooperation in areas including military, people to people exchanges, climate change, clean energy and economic crisis, Huntsman told the delegates attending the forum.     He said the U.S.-China relationship was so "large and complicated" that managers of the relations should "take the areas of commonality" and "realize and speak open" about the disagreements.     Huntsman, who once lived in Taiwan and could speak Chinese called Chinese the "21st century language", saying diplomacy is ineffective without "investing a generation of professionals willing to invest their careers in turn in language, culture, regional studies."     FACES, a forum held in Beijing from Nov.15-20, gathered more than forty students from China and the U.S to discuss political, social, economic and cultural issues.
