The impact pushed the vehicle about 100 feet down the tracks.The victim, the only occupant of the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities reached out to the public Wednesday for help in identifying a motorist involved in a Linda Vista-area hit-and-run that left three people injured three weeks ago.The fugitive driver lost control of a black Honda while trying to make a right-hand turn from eastbound Linda Vista Road right turn onto Goshen Street at high speed shortly before 11 p.m. Oct. 12, according to San Diego police.The sedan skidded across the roadway, crashed broadside into a car stopped for a stop sign at the intersection and pushed the vehicle into a fire hydrant. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Military officials are preparing to transfer the remains of seven U.S. Marines -- including one from Montebello -- and a Navy sailor to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware over the next few days to be prepared for burial.The remains were recovered Friday after the Marines went missing near San Clemente Island when their amphibious vehicle sank during a training mission last month."Our hearts and thoughts of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit are with the families of our recovered Marines and Sailor," said Col. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man accused of fatally beating a fellow transient with a mini sledgehammer as the two argued along a Midway District street was ordered Monday to stand trial on a murder charge.Greg Repp Jennings, 53, is accused in the Jan. 8, 2018, slaying of 37- year-old Michael Anthony Dean, who was struck several times in the head with a four-pound hammer.First responders found Dean lying face-up in the street with his face "caved in," according to preliminary hearing testimony. He was pronounced dead at the scene, near 3805 Midway Drive.According to testimony from SDPD Detective Sgt. Christopher Leahy, one witness told investigators that an argument sparked the killing, which began when Jennings was talking loudly at a bus stop. Dean, who was also sitting at the bus stop, asked Jennings to "tone it down," angering the defendant, who told him "it was his First Amendment right and he wasn't going to shut up," Leahy said.Other witnesses also saw the men arguing and then saw Dean fall into the street, at which point Jennings allegedly struck him with the hammer multiple times.Jennings told investigators that he acted in self-defense, according to testimony. He alleged Dean had tied a pair of workboots together by the laces and was going to use the improvised weapon to attack him.Jennings remained at the scene and was arrested by responding officers.The defendant remains in custody without bail. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Countywide sales of previously owned single-family homes and attached properties fell from July to August while median sales prices ticked up slightly, according to data released Monday by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors. Single-family home sales fell 7.4% -- from 2,144 in July to 1,985 last month -- while sales of attached properties, such as condominiums, fell 8.6% from 1,100 in July to 1,005 in August. Sales of both property types have vacillated between increases and decreases since May. Median sales prices of both property types have risen fairly steadily for most of the year, according to the GSDAR. Single-family home prices rose 0.5% from 7,000 in July to 0,000 in August, and attached property prices increased 1.2% from 5,000 in July to 0,000 last month. ``The 30-year mortgage rates are approaching the historic lows of 2016,'' SDAR President Kevin Burke said. ``Whether that can give the housing market some relief is still dependent on an increase in our supply of homes for sale.
