POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A Poway family is desperately searching for their beloved cat who was last seen getting into a car with an Amazon delivery driver Monday night. Rachael Dominguez shared her doorbell camera footage with 10News which shows Cofi the Siamese cat interacting with the driver on the front porch. Another angle shows the same driver and the cat getting into a car and driving away.Dominguez contacted the Poway Sheriff's Department and Amazon. The company told her the driver says he thought Cofi was a stray and was trying to help but the cat jumped out of his car at a later stop.The driver says Cofi jumped out around Cree Court in Poway. Dominguez is asking people living in that area to keep an eye out for the cat. 746

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) Poway's mayor is responding to critics who are slamming him for how he handled the recent boil water advisory. Nearly 200 businesses were forced to close for six days over fears that the water might have been contaminated during recent storms. Tuesday morning, a group calling itself "The East County Coalition for Clean Water" held a news conference at Lake Poway.The members are from the Helix and Lakeside Water Districts, and one is from the San Diego County Water Authority. The regional water officials said they'd been getting calls from constituents worried about their water supply, which was not affected by the boil water advisory. "The mishandling of the Poway contamination incident erodes the confidence of the public of all the water boards," said Lakeside Water District Member Frank Hilliker, who said he was speaking as a private citizen and not in an official capacity.Hilliker said Poway Mayor Steve Vaus was "asleep at the wheel." "The buck stops with the mayor of Poway, and he was slow to react," said Hilliker. Hilliker also said it was irresponsible for the mayor to say he was continuing to drink the water before testing was complete.Mayor Vaus said he wouldn't do anything differently. "I told people I was drinking water. I did drink the water. I gave it to my pets, cause I knew and I repeatedly said, all of our tests were fine. Sacramento was way behind Poway in getting their clearances," said Mayor Vaus. The mayor said the criticism has more to do with dirty politics than dirty water. "These are a bunch of elected's doing the dirty work for a desperate and disgraced candidate for county supervisor," said Vaus. The mayor is referring to former state Senator Joel Anderson, who is running against Vaus in the race for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. "All 4 or 5 people who were listed on the press release are supporting my opponent in the county supervisor race, an opponent who is in desperate straights according to the polling," said Vaus.When reporters asked Hilliker if he was supporting Anderson, he insisted the news conference was about public safety."How is that relevant to public safety? Again, we're talking about public safety and clean water," said Hilliker. The group also blamed the mayor for not maintaining equipment. Last week, a state official indicated that part of the system was not in compliance with state regulations. "There was a comment in the media from someone with the State Water Quality Control Board saying something or other was wrong with our set up. Well, our set up has been the same for 50 years. PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — A couple believes they got bed bugs from shopping at Port Charlotte Town Center.Matthew Nystrom said he noticed bed bugs in his bedroom Sunday. Just one day after his wife bought new jeans for him at one of the mall's department stores.He said he didn’t know where the bugs came from at first, but he said they noticed the bugs the same day he decided to wear his new jeans. Then he found a bed bug gnawing at his leg.“Pulling it out of my leg was like…I better not tell my wife or she’s gonna freak out,” Nystrom said. Then he decided to tell his wife Hillary Nystrom.She said she read comments from other people on social media complaining about bed bugs at the mall. That's when she decided to check the other pair of brand new pants that they hadn’t taken out of the bag yet.“I pulled the one pair that were in there out and I just unfolded it. And there was one sitting right there,” she said, referring to a bed bug.She said she saw it in the shopping bag after they had the house exterminated by Ace Pest Management. Pest specialist Randy Wells shared a few tips on how to get rid of them as soon as possible.“Pretty much anything that you can throw in a dryer that you think has bed bugs or the like, just put it in at high heat on a cycle and that’ll kill the bedbugs. And again call a pest professional for a thorough inspection,” he said.Wells added people can also rid their homes of the bugs by avoiding taking affected items or even moving from room to room.Several other customers have complained on Facebook about finding bed bugs in clothing after shopping at Port Charlotte Town Center, too. One said a friend was bitten on her foot after wearing new shoes from a shoe store. Nystrom said she wants the mall to do something about it.'They need to close the doors and get that figured out before any more people get it," said Nystrom.The couple said they will not shop at Port Charlotte Town Center anymore.The mall’s General Manager Barbara Roche said she’s aware of the complaints, but declined to comment. 2101
