TOKYO, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, who is on an official visit to Japan, held talks with his Japanese counterpart Masahiko Komura here Thursday.     The two sides spoke positively of the China-Japan relations, and agreed to make joint efforts to ensure the upcoming state visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to Japan a complete success. Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura(R) shakes hands with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi before their meeting in Tokyo, Japan, on April 17, 2008. Yang arrived Thursday in Tokyo for a four-day visit. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, Yang noted.     The relationship between the two countries stands at a new turning point in history and faces crucial opportunities for further development, he said.     The Chinese foreign minister said that China would like to join hands with Japan to seize the opportunity to deepen cooperation, expand communication, deal with issues of mutual concern in proper ways, and keep pushing bilateral ties to new stages.     With regard to President Hu's scheduled visit to Japan, Yang said that through this historic visit, China hopes to make joint efforts with Japan to map out the future from a strategic height and a long-term perspective, and to reach consensus on building strategic mutual trust, deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, and strengthening communication and coordination on world and regional affairs, and to bring bilateral relations on the track of long-term, healthy and stable development. BUCHAREST, May 6 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin said here Monday that China and Romania share the same task of opening up a new era in their all-round partnership of friendship and cooperation.     Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political consultative body, delivered a speech at a session of the Romanian Senate on Monday evening.     In his speech, Jia explained China's policy and concept of peaceful development and mutually beneficial, win-win cooperation with other countries. He emphasized the willingness to further deepen friendship between China and Romania and advance China's relations with Central and Eastern Europe in an all-round way. Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, delivers a speech at the Romanian Senate in Bucharest, Romania, May 5, 2008.     Jia was warmly welcomed by Romanian Senators as he entered the meeting hall at the Parliament Palace under the escort of President Nicolae Vacaroiu.     China and Romania enjoy a long-standing friendship. Romania is one of the first countries that recognized new China shortly after its founding. Since the two countries established diplomatic relations nearly 60 years ago, bilateral relations have been growing smoothly despite major changes in international situation and conditions in both countries. The two countries have been always supporting each other on international affairs and domestic development.     Over the past few years, China and Romania have maintained frequent exchange of visits by high-ranking officials. Chinese President Hu Jintao visited Romania in 2004, when the two countries lift their relations to an all-round partnership of friendship and cooperation.     "The true friendship and deep passion that the Romanian people cherish toward the Chinese people will always remain on the historical record of bilateral relations," Jia said in the speech.     In the speech entitled "continuing the past, opening up the future and jointly creating a better tomorrow of friendship and cooperation", Jia said the two peoples have become friends of all weathers and that China-Romania relations have become an example of international relations.     Jia put forward four proposals on further advancing bilateral links.     First, the two countries should enhance political trust. They should continue to respect and treat each other as equals, never interfere in each other's internal affairs and pay attention to each other's concern. They should maintain high-level contact and carry out even closer exchanges and cooperation between their governments, legislatures and political parties so as to lay a solid political foundation for sustained development of bilateral links.     Secondly, the two countries should expand trade and economic cooperation. They should expand trade and investment according to the principle of mutual complementarity, equality and mutual benefits. They should continue to give a full play to the role of their joint economic commission, encourage and support their companies to increase contact and explore new ways and methods of cooperation.     Thirdly, the two countries should deepen cultural and humanitarian exchanges. They should continue exchanges and cooperation in such fields as culture, science, technology, education, sports, public health and tourism so as to add new content to bilateral links. They should further expand people-to-people exchanges, exchanges among local authorities and young people so as to consolidate the foundation of China-Romania friendship and add vigor to the development of bilateral links.     Fourthly, the two countries should step up coordination and cooperation on international issues. They should join effort to build a fair, unbiased and rule-based multi-lateral system with the United Nations assuming the core role.     Jia said China-Romania friendship is deep-rooted and fruitful and will enjoy an even better future. He called for the people of the two countries to join hands in strengthening their traditional friendship and all-round cooperation.     Jia arrived in Bucharest Sunday for a four-day official goodwill visit to Romania. Romania is the first leg of his four-nation Europe tour, which will also take him to Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.

BEIJING, Sept.1 (Xinhua) -- China's securities watchdog on Monday required fund companies to make their information release more transparent and rolled out a draft regulation on brokers, its latest moves to boost the healthy development of the country's stock market.     The information of stock-oriented funds, such as their periodic results, would be regularly publicized on the website of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, according to a standard format in the eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), starting from Jan. 1 next year, the CSRC said in a statement on Monday night.     "The move was to further improve the quality of information release by fund companies," said the CSRC.     The new rule was expected to help third-party agencies to appraise and supervise the management of fund companies. Previously it was difficult for a third party to collect and analyze the first-hand information of funds, which was not available to all.     Meanwhile, the CSRC said a new regulation on securities brokers would prohibit them from surpassing their authority by manipulating customers' accounts or providing investment counseling.     The dealers would also be forbidden to "offer or spread false, misleading information", or "tempt customers to make unnecessary deals," said the CSRC. Nor could they make agreements on sharing investment proceeds with customers, or promise gains or compensation for losses.     "It was aimed at protecting the legal interests of fund investors and ward off risks caused by ill regulation of securities dealers," said the CSRC in a separate statement.     The watchdog's actions were part of China's recent efforts to straighten out the stock market order and lay a sound foundation for a long-term development.     The CSRC announced earlier this month it would raise the refinancing threshold for listed companies, saying the dividend they pay to shareholders in the recent three years should be no less than 30 percent of its distributed profits, compared with the previous set line of 20 percent.     Refinancing plans of listed companies had led to share price declines and complaints in China as liquidity concerns loomed over the stock market. Investors also blamed their losses on insider trading and opacity of fund companies.     Last week, a draft amendment to the Criminal Law was submitted to China's top legislature, stating that employees of financial institutes will face criminal prosecution for insider trading. Currently there were no relevant provisions in the Criminal Law.     China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index has shed more than 60 percent from its peak in mid October last year.     In the first half, 364 funds in the country incurred a record loss of 1.08 trillion yuan (about 154 billion U.S. dollars), more than 90 percent coming from stock-oriented or hybrid funds, according to statistics from the TX Investment Consulting Co..

BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Premier Wen Jiabao said on Tuesday that China supported the Caribbean integration process.     "China will strengthen dialogue with the Caribbean community based on mutual respect, reciprocity and equality to promote south-south cooperation and achieve common prosperity," said Wen. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao (L) hosts a welcoming ceremony for his counterpart of Barbados David Thompson in Beijing, capital of China, May 6, 2008. Wen Jiabao held talks with David Thompson on May 6. He made the remarks during a meeting with David Thompson, prime minister of Barbados, who arrived in Beijing on Monday for a four-day official visit to China.     Wen said China and Barbados had maintained good cooperation in the areas of trade, technology, and personnel training as well as in such international organizations as the United Nations.     "Both China and Barbados are developing nations and enjoy common interests," Wen said.     He vowed to expand cooperation with Barbados on trade, tourism, architecture and sustainable development.     Thompson expressed gratitude for China's support to his country's economic and social development.     He said Barbados attached importance to relations with China and would continue adherence to the one-China policy. He also said that Barbados supported the Beijing Olympic Games and China's participation in the Inter-American Development Bank.
