Police in North Las Vegas is asking for help from the public to find possible victims of an accused sexual predator who was arrested this week.On Aug. 19, officers arrested Jesse Lee Santos, who is accused of sexual assault, lewdness with a minor, sexual conduct between school employee and pupil, child abuse, and intentional transmission of HIV.Police say Santos is a well-known dancer and owner of JLS Entertainment, Inc., which operates around the valley.He has worked with several well-known artists including Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, Pink, Madonna, and Jessica Simpson, and has performed on multiple awards shows.Santos has traveled for dance competitions in numerous states, including Kentucky, Florida, Maryland, Georgia, and California, and authorities believe there may be victims from those states that have not come forward.Witnesses or victims can call the NLVPD Detective Bureau at 702-633-1773 or email Detective Jorge Correa at correaj@cityofnorthlasvegas.com.This story was first reported by KTNV in Las Vegas, Nevada. 1047

Police are warning about a terrifying phone scam where the person on the other end of the phone says they are holding a family member for ransom.One woman said she received one of these calls and it was the most frightening call she ever received.Natalie Bruser was heading home from work when her cellphone rang from a number she did not recognize."I answered, and it sounded like one of my kids crying, and I couldn't figure out who it was," said Bruser, who has three children. "They were crying super hard, and so I was hysterical."The sobbing young woman said she had been kidnapped. Bruser thought it sounded most like her daughter Nicole, who is in her 20s."It seems that a black Suburban pulled up, and people got out with guns," she said. "And Nicole started screaming."A man then got on the phone and said if Bruser wanted to see her daughter again, she needed to drive over at a gas station off Interstate 75 in Springboro, and get money from an ATM.The man said police were on their tail, and then he told Bruser to stay on the phone and not call 9-1-1. The man also said Bruser needed to act quickly or they would harm her daughter, who appeared to be still crying in the background."She was crying heavily," Bruser said. "And I said, 'Nicole, please calm down. I need to hear your voice. I need to really hear that you're OK.'"But it was all a scam.Luckily, Bruser was able to yell for help, and someone nearby called the police. Officers quickly sorted the situation out.It turned out that there was no black SUV with armed men inside, there was no police car in pursuit, and as for Bruser's daughter Nicole, she was home resting."I'm freaking out at this point. I don't know if they have her hostage or not," Bruser said. "So Springboro police actually went and banged on her door, and she was sleeping, and so here she was safe at home."How the scam worksIt's called the "virtual kidnapping scam."According to police, the caller is not local and does not even know your son or daughter's name. But panicked parents will grab hundreds of dollars, then run to the nearest Western Union desk to wire money for the release of their child.Reports from around the country say this is a very effective scam. The scammers usually tell their victims to stay on the phone and not let anyone know what is going on or they will harm their child.As for the black Chevy Suburban filled with kidnappers carrying guns, the scammers have seen action movies where this is a common trope.In a moment of panic however, it's easy to miss all the holes in the caller's story.So be suspicious of any strange phone calls that appear to be from a family member in distress. POINT LOMA, Calif., (KGTV)— Rainy conditions did not deter thousands of people from participating in the Second Annual Walk Against Hate-San Diego. “I walk for peace and for equal rights for people,” a pre-teen participant said. Three thousand five hundred people joined the Anti-Defamation League’s biggest event of the year, walking to show that San Diego is no place for hate. “Especially in the aftermath of something that is so tragic happening to our community,” ADL-San Diego’s Director of Development, Lindsey Zipkin said. Still fresh in the minds of participants is the Poway Synagogue Shooting on April 27, 2019. Zipkin said there was a huge jump in registration, right after the tragedy.“It gives people a really great way to come together to support one another and to celebrate diversity and respect. And really show that this is really what San Diego is about. No place for hate and not that terrible things that just happened to us,” Zipkin said. 10News also spoke to 15-year-old Nadiv Meltzer, who said the incident opened up a serious dialogue at home. His father, Rabbi Scott Meltzer, talked to him about overcoming bias and hate. “I think it’s not ideal that we needed such as an exhibition of hate and violence to get people together, but I think it’s important that people do get together,” Meltzer said. PARKER, Colo. — Nine months into the pandemic, trauma nurse Allison Boerner hoped the holidays would bring her a break from the loss she and her colleagues have witnessed all year.“Most of us are pretty exhausted,” said Boerner, an emergency room charge nurse at Parker Adventist Hospital. “We went through wave one and then kind of had our head above water and now it feels like our head is below water again.”That emotional weight is now heavier than ever as COVID-19 cases seem to be endlessly climbing across the country.“The fear of going anywhere other than the hospital and my house is terrifying to me because I'm living it every day, and I'm seeing what this virus is doing to people, and it's horrible,” said Boerner.Boerner said that’s why, for the first time in her life, she’s not seeing her family for the holidays.“It’s just something that I'm willing to sacrifice to keep all my loved ones safe.”She first felt the devastating weight of isolation during the holidays at Thanksgiving.“I'm from a big family and none of us saw each other. We had a Zoom meeting and it was hard,” said Boerner through tears.Now, with Christmas on the way, Boerner made the tough choice to once again stay away from those she loves, especially because her job puts her at a higher risk of bringing COVID-19 to her family.“Our whole family's never missed a Christmas Eve, ever. So this is gonna be really, really weird,” she said.Boerner has dozens of family members across Colorado and Christmas is the one time when everyone gathers.“It’s like a huge family tradition for all of us and we're not doing that. The hardest thing and the worst thing that I'll miss is just being surrounded by the love of my family especially after a year like this year,” said Boerner.The mother of two said her sadness goes beyond her own loss, it’s the loss her whole family is suffering too.“The fact that my kids are gonna miss that for like the first year that they really can understand Santa and Christmas, it’s heartbreaking. I mean it's really just, it's hard,” she said.Yet, Boerner knows the loneliness she feels this year is far less than the pain of losing a loved one. That moment is a loss she’s been part of for too many families in her community.“When we have to call a family and tell them that their loved one has died and they can't come see them because of COVID, it's the worst phone call. I will never forget their faces and their reaction. It's something that's burned into my brain and will never leave.”On top of those moments of profound pain, Allison has seen the hurt COVID-19 can bring even for those who aren’t infected, in part because she’s felt the heartache herself.“We've seen a huge increase in patients with depression, and you know they're very, very isolated, job loss…this pandemic is not just about sickness, it's about a whole entire life changing event.”2020 has been a life changing event hitting front-line workers harder than ever and an event Allison hopes we all can learn from.“It’s not worth risking to have one more Christmas together. You want many Christmases to come. I'd much rather spend Christmas with my family next year than not have some of my family members here because of this virus,” she said.But until then, she can only hope the zoom meeting this Christmas will be the last holiday she spends holding her screen tight. 3369
