UFA, Russia, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The BRICS countries should forge a community of destiny in a bid to strengthen the base of cooperation and achieve prosperity, Chinese President Xi Jinping said Thursday.
The SCO, founded in 2001, currently has six member states -- China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, with Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan as observers and Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka as dialogue partners.
They agreed that the two sides should continue dialogue and communication on security-related issues, work to enhance strategic trust, and push forward the construction of a stable China-U.S. strategic security relationship.
China plans to build its armed forces with enhanced capability to address various security threats and accomplish diversified military tasks, said the report, titled "China's Military Strategy", published by the State Council Information Office.
The Standing Committee meeting of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee was an important political consultation, during which political advisors offered their suggestions for the five-year plan, according to a statement released after the meeting.
