HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii's governor says that starting Oct. 15, travelers arriving from out of state may bypass a 14-day quarantine requirement if they test negative for COVID-19.Travelers will have to take the test within 72 hours before their flight arrives in the islands. The governor, David Ige, says drug store operator CVS and healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente will conduct the tests as part of an agreement with the state.Travelers will need to be able to show proof of their negative test results from a CLIA certified laboratory. Those who can’t will be required to quarantine for two weeks or until they can provide proof of their test results.Ige said in a press release that the new pre-travel testing program “is an important step toward reviving our economy while continuing to protect public health.”Earlier this year, Hawaii had plans to start a pre-travel testing program on Aug. 1 but had to postpone them as COVID-19 cases spiked on the U.S. mainland and in Hawaii. A shortage of testing supplies also forced delays. 1045

Hillsborough County, Florida deputies arrested a Chase Bank call center employee for stealing account information, adding her boyfriend to the accounts and making withdrawals.31-year-old Dakima Williams and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Darius Lopez, are being charged with the crimes.“I went to pick up a prescription and when I went to pay for it with my HSA card it said I had a balance of like ,” Kari Krause, whose joint HSA account with her husband was compromised, said.Krause, who lives in Texas, says investigators told her the suspect had a duplicate debit card created to make the transactions. Lopez made two trips to a Chase Bank in Tampa to pull money from the account, withdrawing ,000 and the ,000.Chase reimbursed the couple and began investigating the incident. In total, deputies say nine accounts were compromised.“As soon as we discovered this, we notified authorities and worked with them on the investigation. The employee was terminated and we reimbursed affected customers. We also put additional safeguards in place to prevent this type of behavior by restricting access to certain account information and adding extra layers of verification,” Chase Spokesperson Michael Fusco said in an email.Chase also sold their Health Savings Account Business prior to the incident. They were still in the process of transferring the business when the crimes occurred. 1398

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger told reporters on Tuesday that his office is investigating 1,000 possible cases of “double voting” from this summer’s primary and runoff elections.Raffensperger, who didn’t cite specific instances of potential voter fraud, said the state would seek to prosecute offenders.Georgia, like all states that have both in-person and mail-in voting options, have safeguards in place to prevent voters from casting two ballots.. “When voters who have requested absentee ballots show up at the polls to vote in-person, poll workers are supposed to call the county elections office to determine if the voter’s mail ballot has been counted, before the voter casts a ballot at the polls,” according to Common Cause Georgia, a nonpartisan organization that tries to build public participation in government. The Georgia primary was notable for long lines and lost mail-in ballots, creating confusion.“At the end of the day, the voter was responsible and the voters know what they were doing,” Raffensperger said. “A double voter knows exactly what they were doing, diluting the votes of each and every voter that follows the law.”Common Cause Georgia executive director Aunna Dennis agreed that violations should be punished, but added that the confusion might have caused some to unintentionally violate the law. The date of the Georgia primary was moved twice due to the coronavirus.“We wholeheartedly agree that people who intentionally vote twice should be subject to the usual criminal penalties for election law violations,” Dennis said. “But we are concerned that voters who were simply trying to vote may get caught up in the dragnet. There was a lot of confusion about the presidential primary, which was rescheduled after some voters had already cast mail ballots – but when those voters wanted to vote in the state primary, they received ballots that also included the race. Did that count as “voting twice”?Dennis placed blame on Raffensperger for allegedly sowing distruct in the electoral process.“Voters also should not be subjected to inflammatory allegations by the state’s top elections officials,” Dennis said. “Secretary Raffensperger has been looking for reasons to cast doubt on Georgia’s mail-in ballot system for months. He would have served us all better if he had invested that time and energy into preventing the problems that occurred in June.”Last week, President Donald Trump told a North Carolina news outlet that voters should test election safeguards by voting both in person and via mail, something which could cause voters legal issues.Trump has expressed doubt in mail-in voting during the 2020 election cycle, claiming that mail-in voting is prone to fraud. But many states, some of which are led by Republicans, are ramping up mail-in voting efforts. Proponents of mail-in voting say that it is a safer alternative than in-person voting given the coronavirus pandemic. The president, speaking to a reporter from WECT, said he wanted voters to test the state’s safeguards.“So let them send it in and let them go vote, and if their system’s as good as they say it is, then obviously they won’t be able to vote,” Trump told WECT. “If it isn’t tabulated, they’ll be able to vote. So that’s the way it is. And that’s what they should do.” 3309

Hard seltzers grew rapidly in popularity in 2020; contributing to an aluminum can shortage reported earlier this year, and finding more space in fridges because of stay-at-home orders and people skipping the bar and drinking at home.Bud Light would like to remind people seltzer is not just a warm weather drink.Their winter holiday-themed ugly sweater pack features three holiday season flavors: apple crisp, peppermint pattie and gingersnap.Bud Light’s cranberry hard seltzer is available year round, and is added to the holiday season pack. The ugly sweater pack featuring the holiday season flavors will be on shelves next week in early November. The hard seltzer rise in popularity started before the pandemic, and has seen several major brands join the market including Bud Light, Coca-Cola, Coors, etc. Hard seltzer sales at liquor and grocery stores increased more than 300% between 2018 and 2019. 911

GRASS VALLEY, Calif. -- A California man has a lot to be thankful for after he reportedly fought off a black bear to save the life of his pit bull named Buddy, according to CBS News. The day before Thanksgiving, Buddy was outside playing near his home in Nevada County, California. Kaleb Bentham said something didn’t sound right.“I heard a growl, looked about 75-100 feet down, and the bear was dragging him by his head, had his head in his mouth,” Benham told CBS13.Benham saved Buddy from a shelter a few years ago, and didn’t hesitate to rescue him again.“I just ran down there, plowed into the bear, tackled it and grabbed it by the throat and started hitting it in the face and the eye until it let go,” Benham said.Benham then describes the frantic search for a veterinary hospital that was open during the pandemic. The closest option was closed. 861
