(KGTV) — "Star Wars" fans are getting a first look at a galaxy far, far away at Disneyland.The park posted a photo of the famed Millennium Falcon on Instagram, the first official unveiling of the famed space vessel at the park's "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" expansion. The land will feature the "Millennium Falcon: Smuggler Run" ride, which places guests into the drivers seat in unique crew roles.The second attraction revealed thrusts guests into the middle of an "epic battle" between the Resistance and The First Order on "Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance." (KGTV) - Is the army really sending texts to young people letting them know they've been drafted and that they need to report to the nearest military branch?No.The draft was last used in 1973 during the Vietnam War.The Army Recruiting Command put out a statment making it clear there is no draft and registering for the Selective Service does not enlist a person in the military.It's not clear who is sending out the phony texts. 437

(KGTV) - An 8-year-old boy who floated out to sea on a giant unicorn raft is safe thanks to a volunteer water rescue team. The Ohio boy, who was vacationing on North Carolina’s Oak Island with his family, was swept away by a gust of wind. He was blown nearly half a mile into the Atlantic Ocean. “From witness comments heard on the beach, and some witness comments we’ve read on social media, it happened suddenly when the wind pushed the raft from shallow water to deeper water in seconds. Once it was out past the waves, the big float acted like a sail and the unicorn float kept going away from the beach,” Oak Island Water Rescue reported. At least one person attempted to swim out to the boy but failed, said OIWR. When rescue teams reached the scene, they launched their boat into the surf and recovered the boy.The boy was safely reunited with his mother, OIWR said. "He was a brave one," rescuer Tony Young told 10News.WWAY-TV reports other floats blew out to sea several times last year, but this was the first time a child was still on board. “A strong wind gust can send a raft on the move. In fact, on days where we have a strong wind blowing toward the ocean, it is not uncommon for us to get multiple 911 dispatches for rafts blown into deeper water,” reported OIWR. OIWR recommends having children wear life jackets when they ride on rafts. Rescuers praised the Ohio boy's courage.“The young man did an amazing job of staying calm and remaining on the float. (KGTV) -- A South Bay woman is mourning the death from COVID-19 of her boyfriend and her 'second chance' at love.Derik Williams started feeling sick in early July."Felt very fatigued, no cough," said Carol Althoff.Five days later, Althoff, his girlfriend of four years, brought him to the ER."Outside, they took his temperature and it was 101°.Williams was admitted and put on a sleep apnea CPAP device to help him breathe. A few days later, she got a call."He called home and he was his old self. 'Hi, babe, how are you?'" said Althoff.She was expecting a call the next day about him coming home.Instead, a doctor called about Williams needing to be placed on a ventilator. She talked to Willliams on the phone."We cried together. We said our 'I love you.' It was extremely emotional," said Althoff.A few days later, William - a father of 4 and a grandfather - passed away, days before his 55th birthday. Althoff, whose first husband died of cancer, says she didn't think she would find love again until she met Williams a few years later."Derek was loving. He was happy and so giving," said Althoff.She says the Air Force veteran was always volunteering, whether it was for The Rock Church, Stand Down, or soup kitchens."It was part of who he was. He wanted to be a better person, better than the person he was yesterday," said Althoff.As for where the coronavirus came from, Althoff isn't sure. She says Williams was diligent about masks and mostly went to the grocery store and his work, an aerospace company where he worked as a forklift operator. Althoff is making an urgent plea to COVID-19 seriously."Please, wear your mask. If not for you, then for the person you may be encounter," said Althoff.A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help with expenses.Williams did suffer from underlying conditions, including a heart condition and diabetes.The Rock Church issued the following statement:"We are deeply saddened at the loss of Derik Williams. He has been a faithful volunteer at the Rock Church for over five years. From serving on our hospitality team to greeting guests Derik was known for his infectious smile, joyful spirit and desire to help others know Christ. We are praying for his family and friends during this time that God might comfort them during their loss.This past Sunday, the Hospitality Volunteer team had a memorial service to honor Derik Williams' life via Zoom. As people shared their thoughts and memories of Derik, one thing was clear Derik had a huge heart in being intentional about checking in on his friends/team members. The breakthrough comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expects IVF to reach an all-time high in the coming years. 10News is digging into the history and future of IVF by the numbers, as well as cases when human error reportedly caused mistakes with IVF. The first baby conceived with IVF was born into the world in 1978, according to the CDC. Since then, numbers have spiked. The agency says by 2015, eight million babies had been conceived using IVF. By 2100, as many as 200 million babies are expected to be conceived using in-vitro fertilization. 714
