CHANGSHA, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese leader Li Changchun has called on publicity departments and media organizations to "vigorously" disseminate the core values of socialist China and inspire the public to achieve the Party's development goals.     Li, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said during his inspection tour to Hunan Province that China's achievements in the reform and opening up and modernization cause should be well presented, as well as the country's successful experience in dealing with the financial crisis.     Li's five-day tour ended Wednesday, during which he urged publicity departments and news media to "spread China's practices in keeping economic development steady and relatively fast amid the international financial crisis."

BEIJING, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao Friday highly praised the achievement of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) over the past decade, ahead of the 10th anniversary of the region's return to the motherland.     Hu, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said Macao was "embracing a bright future" thanks to the mainland's support and Macao compatriots' hard work. Hu made the remarks while attending an exhibition in Beijing marking Macao's achievements in the past 10 years.     "Macao has undergone an extraordinary development over the past decade," he said, adding under the support of the central government and the Chinese mainland, the SAR government fully implemented the policies of "one country, two systems", "Macao people governing Macao" with a high degree of autonomy and the Basic Law. COPENHAGEN, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said Thursday that the Copenhagen climate talks have reached the decisive moment and all parties should focus on consensus in a future-oriented manner and seek common grounds while shelving differences so as to bring hope to the world people.     Wen made the remarks when he met British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama on the sidelines of the UN-led talks being held here.     Wen said many developed countries have tabled quantified emission reduction targets while some developing countries have also set up voluntary goals in curbing emissions, which represents new progress in international cooperation in tackling climate change. BEIJING, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- More than 45 million people from both home and abroad have visited Tian'anmen Rostrum, a landmark structure in the heart of Chinese capital, in the past 21 years after it was opened to the public.     "In 2009 alone, the rostrum received more than 2.16 million visitors," said Lin Bingkui, of the rostrum administration department.     The rostrum, or the Gate of Heavenly Peace built in 1417, stands to the north of Tian'anmen Square and south of the renowned Forbidden City, the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912).     It was on the Tian'anmen Rostrum where Chairman Mao Zedong formally proclaimed the founding of the People's Republic of China on Oct. 1, 1949.     The rostrum was opened to the public for the first time on Jan.1, 1988.     Thousands of tourists use the rostrum as a background while taking photos every day.
