BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) — A proposal from lawmakers in New England and California to give free access to national parks to wounded veterans is poised to become law. The Wounded Veterans Recreation Act has passed the U.S. House of Representatives after previously passing the U.S. Senate. Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins, New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Democratic California Rep. Raul Ruiz proposed the law. The lawmakers say the bill is designed to change the 2004 Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act to make veterans with a service-connected disability eligible for a free lifetime pass to U.S. national parks. 645

Beyoncé sent a letter to Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron on Sunday, demanding justice for Breonna Taylor.Taylor was shot and killed in her home on March 13 after police executed a no-knock warrant during a narcotics investigation. Taylor's boyfriend fired at police, thinking they were intruders. Police then returned fire, shooting and killing Taylor. No drugs were found in the home.Last week, the city of Louisville banned the use of no-knock warrants with "Breonna's Law." Later, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, introduced legislation that would ban no-knock warrants across the country. However, for Beyoncé, that's not enough. In her letter, she asked that the officers involved be held accountable for their actions. She mentioned that no arrests have been made in connection with Taylor's death, and the officers involved still have their jobs with the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD).Beyoncé asked for three things in her letter. Those are:Bring criminal charges against the police officers involved in Taylor's death: Jonathan Mattingly, Myles Cosgrove, and Brett HankisonCommit to transparency in the investigation and prosecution of these officers' criminal conductInvestigate the LMPD's response to Breonna Taylor's murder, as well as the pervasive practices that result in the repeated deaths of unarmed Black citizens"With every death of a Black person at the hands of police, there are two real tragedies: the death itself, and the inaction and delays that follow it. This is your chance to end that pattern," Beyoncé wrote. "Take swift and decisive action in charging the officers. The next months cannot look like the last three."The full letter can also be found on Beyoncé's website. This story was originally published by Julia Marshall on WTMJ in Milwaukee. 1800

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo police lieutenant has been suspended, and the department has launched an investigation after video shows the lieutenant calling a bystander a "disrespectful little f***ing c****."Lt. Michael Delong has been suspended without pay, and Commissioner Byron Lockwood has ordered an immediate investigation after a video of Delong's comments surfaced on social media on Monday. The video, recorded and shared on Twitter by user @ruweyda_salim, shows a handful of officers in a 7-Eleven parking lot. The woman recording the video counted 10 officers on hand to arrest the man, who she said was "on drugs."Delong claimed police responded because the man was "violent" and was holding a weight in his hand that could be used as a weapon. The woman who shared the video denies the police's claim that the man was dangerous or holding a weapon, and told Delong that she "wasn't going to go near him.""Mhmm. You're a disrespectful little f***ing c***, that's what you are," Delong said in response.Online records show Delong made over 0,000 in 2018 and more than ,000 last year. You can watch the full video below. Britain's Prince Charles has released a candid family photograph, as the heir to the throne celebrates his 70th birthday. In a special edition of British magazine Country Life, which the Prince of Wales guest-edited to mark the occasion, he spoke of "the alarming realization that I have reached the biblical threshold of three score years and 10."However, in the official portrait, taken in the gardens of Clarence House in London in September, Charles looks anything but alarmed. The future king seems relaxed as he holds his eldest grandson, Prince George, on his lap, surrounded by members of his immediate family. It's been five years since Charles last stepped in as guest editor for Country Life, and this edition offers even greater insight into the royal's life and his views on the British countryside. An interview with his eldest son William, the Duke of Cambridge, reveals that Charles, a long-time advocate of environmental issues such as climate change, is "completely infatuated" by the endangered red squirrels and has "hundreds" of bird tables at his Highgrove estate in England, which he replenishes by hand whenever he is there. The prince also commissioned his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, to write about her support for the Medical Detection Dogs charity. 1282
